It goes back and forth. After rumors of a Zelda movie were last denied, there are now new indications that the Nintendo hit is to be filmed – and with two movies at once.
Here's the deal: For some time now, there have been repeated rumors about a film adaptation of Link's adventures and the Zelda series. But now that the rumor mill has quieted down again, there is renewed hope for all Zelda fans. It seems that the popular and successful Nintendo title will now be filmed twice.
On the one hand, an animated movie and on the other hand a live-action movie with real actors are planned. The British website currys.co.uk has already breathed life into the Zelda characters with the help of AI.
On the short message service X (formerly Twitter), there was a promising conversation between Caleb Williams, editor-in-chief of Knight Edge Media, and the user MyTimeToShineHello. The last live-action one has proven to be very reliable in the past when it came to inside movie information.
A Zelda animated film might have been planned for quite some time, together with the studio Illumination, which has already successfully realized the Mario film adaptation. So this is likely to be another movie for the whole family. The live-action adaptation, on the other hand, is expected to have a more serious mood. The partner for this might be the Universal studio.
Even though these are only rumors so far, there is a lot to be said for a film version of The Legend of Zelda. On the one hand, Nintendo has already proven with Pokémon and Mario that they are basically very fond of the medium of film. On the other hand, the story of Zelda is simply perfect for one or even several films. A young intrepid warrior who goes into battle against the all-powerful evil to save a beautiful princess – what could be more Hollywood?
