The Araneo in ARK: Survival Evolved is a giant species of spider, every arachnophobe’s nightmare! She is highly aggressive and attacks with her webs, which she shoots at you. She always keeps an eye on you with her seven eyes.
In our guide to the Araneo you will find out everything you need to know about the large spider. But also how to catch him, tame him, feed him and breed offspring too.
This is the Araneo in ARK: Survival Evolved
Appearance: The Araneo is a spider that combines several species. She has seven eyes in all, and four spike-like teeth on her mouth. In addition to her eight legs, there are two “arms” that have grown out of her neck.
Wild: You can find the Araneo in caves on every map. Due to her aggressive nature, she will attack you outright, catching you with a net she can shoot and making you docile with poison she injects directly into you.
Domesticated: The Araneo is domesticated, through its net-throwing abilities, excellent for capturing and taming other creatures, or for harvesting. You can also use it as a mount.
How to tame the Araneo in ARK
The Araneo is passively tamed by feeding it spoiled meat (rotten meat). To do this, first spray yourself with bug spray, put on the ghillie suit, and place the rotten meat in your inventory slot on the far right.
Now you can approach the desired specimen from behind in a crouching position until the command “Feed rotten meat to tame” appears, which you carry out.
Depending on the level of the selected Araneo, the procedure may have to be repeated several times.
This is how you make the Araneo saddle
To craft the Araneo Saddle, you need to be level 40 and 18 engram points to unlock the recipe. You now need the following resources to craft:
- 260x Hide
- 140x Fiber
- 100x Chitin, Keratin, or Shell Fragment
How to feed an Araneo in ARK
Once you have tamed your Araneo, it is important to know what it likes to eat. Araneos are carnivores, which of course makes the choice of food easier.
- Spoiled Meat
- Created automatically from any meat or fillet that has expired.
- Raw Meat:
- Gained when gutting a creature
- Raw Fish Meat:
- Received from gutting fish
How to breed the Araneo in ARK
This is how you prepare the breeding: If you have a male and female specimen, you build an enclosure that is large enough at best. Put both dinos in the pen and set them to “wander” via the command menu. Alternatively, you can also switch directly to “Pair”, but then there must always be a player nearby, otherwise the pairing will stop due to the rendering.
The breeding interval for an Araneo is 18 to 48 hours.
How to Hatch Eggs: If you have obtained a fertilized Araneo Egg from a successful mating, hatching begins. For this, the ambient temperature of the egg should be between 4 °C and 12 °C and in the egg incubator at 8 °C. According to standard settings, the little Araneo Baby hatches after about 1.5 hours. After that, it takes about 2.5 hours of your attention, during which you keep putting food in its inventory.
Once it gains juvenile status, it can feed on its own. The entire ripening time takes about 1 day and 1 hour.
