If you play ARK Survival Evolved on the Crystal Isles map, sooner or later you will need Primal Crystal if you want to raise or tame Crystal Wyverns. In our ARK Primal Crystal Guide, you will learn everything you need to know about this resource and how you can farm it.
This is Primal Crystal: Primal Crystal is a rainbow-colored crystal that came into the game with the Crystal Isles DLC and can only be found on Crystal Isles. You require them to tame the Crystal Wyvern that lives on the Island.
Why You need Primal Crystal in ARK Survival Evolved
You require Primal Crystal to raise Crystal Wyvern and imprint them on you. Primal Crystal is the only food that Crystal Wyvern will eat until they reach adulthood. As a baby, teenager or adolescent, Wyvern will not eat anything else. A Primal Crystal also provides 400 Hunger Points to the Wyvern that are being raised and fed with it.
If you want to tame an adult Crystal Wyvern, you will need Primal Crystal as their food to do so. You can also use Primal Crystals as a tribute to summon the Crystal Wyvern Queen to fight her in a boss battle.
Attention! Since Primal Crystals expire relatively quickly (45 minutes in your inventory and 6 hours in the Crystal Wyvern inventory), you should only collect them if you are going to use them up in a timely manner.
How to get Primal Crystal on Crystal Isles
This valuable resource can only be found on Crystal Isles, and there’s a simple reason for that. The Primal Crystal can only be harvested from unconscious Crystal Wyverns, which can only be found on this island. To get the crystals, simply open the inventory of an unconscious Wyvern and drag them into your inventory. When killing an Alpha Wyvern, you can get up to 30 Primal Crystals and a normal wyvern can get you up to 10.
However, you should only approach an Alpha Wyvern if you have a plan or are sure you can win, as these beasts know no mercy.
