If all characters turn blue in Hogwarts Legacy, it’s because of the “Blue Character Bug”. We’ll explain how you can easily fix it.
How to recognize the Blue Character Bug: Hogwarts Legacy may not be a very colorful role-playing game by nature, but if all creatures suddenly turn blue and the environment turns gray, then it’s a bug. The so-called blue character bug is increasingly affecting the Xbox Series version, but it can occur on other platforms as well.
Do you have this problem? Don’t worry, because, and here’s the good news, you won’t have to wait for a developer patch. Rather, the bug is related to a gameplay setting that you can easily disable. Fine, and what’s the bad news? Well, you are really lucky today, because there is no bad news.

Here’s How to Fix the Blue Character Bug
The strange error specifically stems from the automatically enabled “Play with high contrast” option. Why this mode is active by the standard is anyone’s guess. Maybe the colors are supposed to appear brighter this way. You fix the bug as follows:
- Open up the pause menu in Hogwarts Legacy.
- Navigate to settings and select “Input”.
- There, you will see the “High contrast gameplay” option enabled; disable it.
If you followed these steps, the game should show up in the intended colors. However, it may happen that the blue character bug won’t vanish. In this case, only restarting Hogwarts Legacy will help, with high contrast disabled, of course.
