At the start of the third chapter of Conan Exiles Age of Sorcery, the new feature Golem Shaping was introduced. With it, you can build your own golems to support you in the game.
Having one or more golems is quite useful. The tough fellows can be used for gathering resources as well as for fighting. How to build your own golem and how to use it, we will show in our guide.
Talent Golem Constructor
To be able to create a golem at all, you first need the talent Golem Constructor. In the Exiled Lands, you have to travel to the map section G-7, where you will find the Master Carver Huang, who is standing at his golem workbench. Talk to him and click on the talent. You will then see the talent under the Sorcery talent tab.
To unlock the talent in Septa, you must go all the way north to map section I-13 in the camp of the castaways. In both cases, the talent can be unlocked from level 1.
How Golem Shaping works in Conan Exiles Age of Sorcery
Before you can start golem shaping, you will need two special workbenches in your base:
- The Golem Workbench: Requires 100x Bricks, 50x Iron Bars, 300x Wood.
- The Guardian Assembly Station: Requires 100x Bricks, 100x Iron Bars.
Once you have built the two stations in your base, you can use the Golem Workbench to craft the parts for your Golem. Most of the recipes have already been obtained with the Golem Constructor talent. Individual high-level recipes can be obtained later in dungeons by defeating certain enemies. Each golem consists of six parts, which you must craft at the workbench:
- Torso
- Head
- Left arm
- Right arm
- Left leg
- Right leg
Important: During the crafting process, you must already add a weapon or tool when crafting the arms. With this, you determine what your golem should do for you later. Depending on the item you add, you will achieve different results:
- Sword: Your golem will fight.
- Sickle: Your golem will harvest plants.
- Axe: Your golem will collect wood.
- Hammer: Your golem will collect stones.
To ensure that your golem collects the right resource, you must put the appropriate material in its lower inventory bar once after its awakening. From now on, he will only be busy bringing you more of this material. However, your Golem must always be set to “Follow” for the collection to work. Funcom is already working on making the golem do its job completely.
Your Golem does not need food or any other resource. It can’t collect experience points or level-upsevel ups.
These Golem Types Exist
So far, there are three different golem levels in Conan Exiles Age of Sorcery:
- T1 golems are made of stone
- T2 golems are made of steel
- T3 golems are made of crystalline
Each of these levels is also divided into two versions of arms, legs, and torso, namely a tar variant and a sulfur variant. Golems made of tar leave puddles of tar everywhere, which you can ignite and cause fire damage.
Golems made of sulfur continuously emit toxic fumes that cause damage to enemies, but also to you, if you don’t wear a protective mask. But there is also a unique feature for the golem head. Namely, you can make special Explosive Guardian Heads for your golems that cause a massive explosion when your golem dies.
When your golem is defeated, its remains will be left on the ground. You can work these with the pickaxe, gaining valuable resources that you can then use to create a new golem.
However, a golem is not easy to break down because it has a very respectable number of life and armor points. However, once it loses points, it can’t restore them.
