With the new update “Missions in Uncharted Space” from Disney Dreamlight Valley, Woody, Buzz, a new realm, and the star path were joined by new items to collect or craft. Our guide explains how to get the red algae, but also what you can use it for.

About the red algae: The red algae looks like the traditional seaweed that you could previously fish in Disney Dreamlight Valley, with the difference that it turns red towards the bottom. This is how you can easily recognize it at first sight.

This is The Red Algae in Disney Dreamlight Valley

You can find the red algae in the menu of your Disney Dreamlight Valley game, under the Collection tab, in its subcategory “Collect”.

You can find it in any biome that has water areas, such as lakes, ponds, or rivers. The red algae have a value of 150 coins each if you want to sell them at one of Goofy's stalls.

What Requires The Red Algae

Seaweed: Firstly, you can produce the conventional Dreamlight Valley seaweed from the red algae. You need exactly one red alga for one seaweed, which you can then craft into seaweed at the workbench.

  • 1x Red Algae = 1x Seaweed

The Red Algae is also used to craft the Miracle Fishing Bait, which you received directly after the update from Merlin, as well as the Even More Miracle Fishing Bait, which is an even better version. This ensures that for a certain period of time, you can catch the rare fish that are normally only found in the orange circle.

How to Get Red Algae in Dreamlight Valley

Unlike seaweed, which you get when you fish outside the specified circles, you get red algae similar to fertile soil, which spawns randomly when you harvest.

So if you are fishing, you will occasionally be lucky enough to get red algae with your catch. The specialty of a resident, who is specialized in fishing, does not work with the red algae, because it is only passively fished.

So to get a lot of red algae, you need patience and a lot of time to fish.
