In Elden Ring, the last patch, 1.08, unlocked access to the Colosseum. This guide will tell you exactly how to get to one of the three Colosseum buildings and where to find them.

This is what happened: The latest update for Elden Ring has brought a long-awaited feature into the game, in addition to many balancing adjustments. Shortly after the release, data miners discovered that the three large arenas are more than just decorative buildings. Each Colosseum is an arena for PvP battles, which has now opened its doors with patch 1.08. Depending on the Colosseum, the arena can be a PvP arena. In addition, depending on which Colosseum you are in, there are different game modes. In our guide, we explain everything you need to know.

How to Open the Colosseum in Elden Ring

The way into a Colosseum in Elden Ring is simply through a door. Or in the case of the various large arenas, through a gate. You don't have to fulfill any special requirements and can ride to a Colosseum and unlock the PvP arena and its game modes by opening the gate. However, to gain access to all arenas and all game modes, you'll have to travel to all three different arenas once.

When you open the first gate, a new statue of Marika appears near the fireplace in the round table fortress. By interacting with this statue, you can now participate in the various battles in each arena. However, it would be best to open each Colosseum before you have all the options to choose from here. Alternatively, you can fast-travel each Coliseum in Elden Ring to the nearest mercy or mount.

These Modes are available in the different Arenas

As already mentioned, each Colosseum offers different modes. From duels to free-for-all battles, everything is represented here. Below we list which modes you can play in which Colosseum of Elden Ring.

  • Limgrave Colosseum - Here, in addition to Free-For-All battles with up to 5 opponents, you can also compete in team battles of 2 or 3-person teams.
  • Leyndell Colosseum - If you're into classic duels, Leyndell Coliseum is your place to go.
  • Caelid Colosseum - In Caelid Colosseum, you can play all the modes of the other arenas. That is, duels, team fights, and Free-For-All. Additionally, it is possible to summon ghosts here.

Can I enter the Colosseum in Elden Ring together with friends? Yes, this is possible. All you need to do is to use a group password. This allows you to compete against other players with your friends or fight against each other.

Tips for fighting in a Colosseum in Elden Ring

We probably don't have much to tell you if you're already familiar with PvP in Elden Ring. However, if the recent update has whetted your appetite to try out or perhaps even master player vs. player combat, we've got some simple beginner tips for you.

  1. Targeted to victory: This means that every attack and every roll, in fact, every action in PvP, must be chosen wisely and executed at the right time. A small mistake is often immediately punished by the opponent. A duel between two fighters in Elden Ring usually involves making sure the opponent makes a mistake.
  2. Ranged attacks are important: Even as an absolute melee fighter, you should have some ranged attacks available. If your opponent gains a lot of distance and uses it to heal, you can use your ranged attacks to interrupt him.
  3. Use everything you have: Even though only in a coliseum is the use of spirits allowed, many other items can buff you or do damage. You can also use simple magic to strengthen your abilities.
  4. Customize your equipment: In PvP, different armor, weapons, and abilities are often more useful than against the somewhat easier-to-calculate computer-controlled bosses or enemies. Here it is essential to look at the different options and find a build that feels good to you and has the necessary competence for PvP fights.
  5. Adapt your play style to the modes: In Duel, relatively classic rules apply. You can only heal yourself with spells or your vial of miraculous medicine. Your normal healing vials are forbidden here. The winner is the one who is still standing at the end. Team fights and Free-For-All are different. It doesn't count if you bite the dust because you respawn. The important thing is to be the player or team with the most eliminations.
