Hardly any open world is as dangerous and difficult to master as the intermediate lands in Elden Ring. With one of the nine legendary weapons and the right build, you can not only assert yourself in PVP, but also defeat all bosses and enemies on your way to the Elden Throne.
In total, you can find nine legendary weapons in Elden Ring. You get these for defeating strong opponents, completing quests, or you can find them in hidden chests. The mighty blades form the basis for extremely powerful builds that will carry you to the last boss and beyond. In our guide, we introduce you to all nine legendary weapons and also show you how to find them.
Location: Once you defeat the boss "Lionlike Fiend," you'll get the Greatsword of Transplantation. You can find him on a small island behind Castle Morne, which is in the far south-east of the Between Lands on the Peninsula of Tears. In the south of the fortress, find the way down over the rocks at the right place on the castle wall. Then just follow the ghost jellyfish to get to the boss arena.
Attribute Requirements:
Scaling:
Unique Talent: As a unique talent, the Greatsword of Transplantation gives you a temporary boost to your attributes. Your balance will also increase for this duration.
Location: In House Caria in northern Liurnia you can go east from the place of mercy "Lower level of the estate". At the first opportunity you turn north. About halfway down you drop off the bridge onto a small tower to use the ladder behind the hatch to get to the chest containing the Sword of Night and Flame.
Attribute Requirements:
Scaling:
Unique Talent: As a unique talent, the Sword of Night and Flame gives you the Night and Flame stance. Hold the sword straight to cast spells. Follow up with a normal attack and the Night Comet spell will be unleashed. With a strong attack, on the other hand, you cover the area in front of you with flames.
Location: In order to get the Shotel of the Eclipse you have to get to the territory of the giants, specifically to the Sol Castle, west of the icy lake. Find the way over the western cliffs to the place of mercy "Church of Darkness" where you can easily collect the legendary weapon.
Attribute Requirements:
Scaling:
Unique Talent: As a unique talent, the Shotel of the Eclipse gives you the Torch of Death. This is a buff that causes the weapon to throw a death effect at enemies per attack. When the death effect gauge is full, the enemy dies instantly. The weapon is primarily suitable for PvP, since most bosses in Elden Ring are immune to the death effect.
Location: After defeating the Star Scourge Rhadan, speak to Jerren again in the courtyard of Castle Redmane and exhaust all his dialogues. Use the fast travel and run to the festival courtyard again. Now here you can complete a double boss fight against a Lionlike Fiend and a Crucible Knight and bag the Shattered Greatsword as a reward.
Attribute Requirements:
Scaling:
Unique Talent: As a unique talent, the Debris Greatsword gives you the "Wave of Destruction". Activating the talent slams the weapon on the ground in front of you, causing a massive gravity wave that deals massive AOE damage.
Location: You get the Marais Executioner's Sword after a boss fight. This time you must defeat Knight Elemer of the Thorns who is waiting for you in the Shadow Castle. This dungeon is easy to miss just following the story. It lies on the northern edge, between Gelmir and the Altus Plateau.
Attribute Requirements:
Scaling:
Unique Talent: As a unique talent, the Marais Executioner's Sword gives you "Eochaid's Dancing Blade". After a brief charge, hurl the sword forward for a spiral attack, piercing all enemies in a straight line in front of you.
Location: The Greatsword of the golden order is waiting for you in the dungeon "Cave of the Lost" on the mountain top of the giants. You'll find him pretty much in the middle of the snowy landscape. Simply follow the frozen river course. Gain access with a stone sword key after defeating the land octopus in front of the entrance. After defeating the boss of the cave as well, you will be able to call the Greatsword of the Golden Order your own.
Attribute Requirements:
Scaling:
Unique Talent: As a unique talent, the Greatsword of the Golden Order gives you the "Create Order" ability. This allows you to unleash massive golden explosions or, with repeated use, emit waves of golden light that deal massive Holy damage in their path.
Location: You can get the Darkmoon Greatsword from the Snow Witch Ranni after successfully completing her quest. Ranni's Quest is one of the most extensive, but also the most beautiful in the whole game. Not only will you be rewarded with the Darkmoon Greatsword at the end, but you'll also get an alternate ending after defeating the final boss.
Attribute Requirements:
Scaling:
Unique Talent: As a unique talent, the Darkmoon Greatsword gives you the Moonlight Greatsword ability. This is a buff that coats the blade with frost, greatly increasing the weapon's magic damage.
Location: For this legendary weapon, you must have defeated the Godscalp duo in Farum Azula as well as Rykard and the bounty missions in House Vulcan for Bernal to appear in Farum Azula. If you have already done that, you can start from the place of mercy "By the big bridge" in Farum Azula. Run straight out, left up the small stairs and turn 180 degrees at the top and run in the opposite direction on the big road towards the big building, go through it to the east and defeat Bernal in front of a tower. As a reward you get the scepter.
Attribute Requirements:
Scaling:
Unique Talent: As a unique talent, the Devourer Scepter gives you the Eater of Worlds ability. This charging attack deals high damage to all enemies in a large radius.
Location: From the place of mercy "Refuge of the Earth Tree" in the royal capital Leyndell, you run through the exit in the west and activate the elevator there. Below, continue west until a giant golden scepter appears in front of you. The lightning bolt from Gransax lies on it and only needs to be collected.
Attention: Be sure to collect this legendary weapon on your first visit to Leyndell. Once you defeat Malekith in Farum Azula and Leyndell is covered in ash, you can no longer get the lightning bolt from Gransax.
Attribute Requirements:
Scaling:
Unique Talent: As a unique talent, the Lightning of Gransax gives you the Dragon Lightning Spear. After a short charge time, the weapon hurls a red bolt at your opponent.
Deciding which attributes to level up with your runes depends on what weapons you are playing with. Each weapon scales with different attributes. These are structured like school grades, with an A scale corresponding to grade one, B to grade two, and so on.
For example, if a weapon has a Strength scale of A and Dexterity scale of C, you'll do more damage with that weapon for each new point of Strength or Dexterity. Because of the better "grade", however, increasing strength causes more damage than increasing skill.
Putting enough points into a particular attribute can improve a weapon's scaling, such as Dexterity scaling going from C to B if you've invested enough points into Dexterity.
