In the cozy MMO Palia, you have countless ways to let your imagination run wild, including decorating your home. There are numerous pieces of furniture that you can place, rotate, and even modify to tailor your home to your liking.
What's this about? In this guide, we aim to detail how the build mode in Palia works and how you can craft and place furniture. This way, your sleeping spot transforms into a true home where you can relax and feel at ease.
Before introducing the build mode and explaining how you can aesthetically place your furniture, we'd like to touch upon how you can craft your interior decor. First and foremost, you need a house.
During the early quests, you'll inevitably build a house, for which you'll need 35 stone bricks and 100 splinterwood boards. Once you have the required materials, visit the town hall and purchase a crafting license for 500 gold. Now, the building can commence.
By the way, at the town hall, not only can you acquire the crafting license, but you can also access extensions for your house and property. So, anticipate that your house can become much larger and grander. Thus, you'll need plenty of furniture.
To craft these pieces yourself, you'll need to construct a workbench. At this workbench, you can craft various furnishings like chairs, beds, toilets, and more. All you need is the blueprint and the necessary materials.
You can modify, or tailor, these furniture pieces with a modification bench. In the following guide, we'll explain how to obtain such a bench and what steps to follow: How to Design Furniture With the Modification Bench.
So, you've crafted or purchased furniture, and they're now in your inventory or in a chest on your property? Great! It's time to use the build mode. Simply go to your property and press the H key.
The game switches to a bird's-eye view, and on the left side, you'll see which items are available to you. This mode is perfect for placing items outside. However, it can be a bit tricky inside the house.
Therefore, we recommend that after placing items, exit this build mode and press the Ctrl key instead. This will highlight the screen's edge in blue and display a grid on the floor, indicating that you can now rotate and reposition furniture.
In this mode, you can select already placed items to rotate and/or reposition them. Items with their own grid can also be used to place other items on top. For instance, placing a vase on a table.
By the way, you can rotate the item using the mouse wheel or the Q and E keys. Using this method, you can also remove structures like the harvest house or the makeshift tent. Removed items return to your inventory, so they're not lost.
When deciding to decorate your Palia home, there are some things to keep in mind to maximize your space. It's a good idea to start with a central theme or color palette.
This gives your space a cohesive and harmonious feel. If you opt for a rustic theme, wooden furniture and warm colors might be ideal. For a more modern vibe, clean lines and neutral colors might be more fitting.
Remember, less is often more. Overcrowded spaces can appear cluttered, so try to keep the space open and airy. Also, utilize the height of your room by adding shelves or pendant lights.
Lighting plays a pivotal role in designing your Palia home. It can completely alter the ambiance of a room. Warm, dim lighting can make a room feel cozy and inviting, while bright, cool lighting can give a modern, clean look.
Consider where you want to place light sources. Perhaps you would like to create a reading nook with a floor lamp or highlight the dining table with a pendant light. Candles can also set a romantic and relaxed mood.
Remember, in Palia, you also have the option to place windows to let in natural light. This can add depth to your room and make it appear larger.
