Do you want to be successful in agriculture and achieve high yields? Of course you do. The key to this success is the same as in real life because what matters is the placement of the fields, the timing of sowing, and of course, the right fertilizer.
If you haven't had much experience with agricultural simulations yet, you might think it's enough to just put the plants in the ground, pour water on them, and expose them to the sun, but it's not that simple.
The soil in which the little plants grow requires special attention and care, and an essential part of this care is the use of the right fertilizer. But where do you get this fertilizer from, and what effects does it have?
Where can I get fertilizer? There are different options to get it. For example, you can go to Zeki's shop or buy some in Badruu's guild shop. But there is also the option to make fertilizer in Palia yourself.
You can get the nutrient-rich sludge as a by-product in worm boxes or firefly boxes. These little creatures actually serve you as bait for fishing, but the fertilizer they produce in their boxes is also incredibly practical.
Depending on the type of fertilizer you buy or make yourself, you can expect a different effect on your plants. Below we introduce you to all the types of fertilizer we know and tell you not only where you can get them but also what they can do for you.
QualityUp Fertilizer
Location: Worm box
Description: Increases the quality of your plants
If you grow plants like cotton, which should always be of high quality, you can use QualityUp from your worm box to ensure that you always deliver the best product.
WeedBlock Fertilizer
Location: Zeki's Shop (General Store)
Description: Prevents weeds from growing and stealing nutrients from your plants
If you want to grow carrots or onions, for example, you should use the WeedBlock fertilizer to ensure that no weeds grow between your plants and affect their health or growth.
HydratePro Fertilizer
Location: Zeki's Shop (General Store)
Description: The plant doesn't need to be watered for an in-game day
HydratePro in the video game Palia is especially important when you want to grow potatoes or tomatoes. Both are plants that need a lot of water. With HydratePro, the seedlings are always adequately watered and don't dry out.
HarvestBoost Fertilizer
Location: Worm box, Firefly box, Badruu's Shop (Guild Store)
Description: Increases the yield at harvest
There are plants whose cultivation is only really worthwhile if the harvest is correspondingly lush. For example, with wheat or rice, you can use HarvestBoost to ensure that you get a large amount of products with each harvest.
SpeedyGro Fertilizer
Location: Worm box, Firefly box
Description: Shortens the growth time of the plants
Always remember regularly to check your worm boxes for fertilizer, as this is the only way you can get the incredibly practical SpeedyGro fertilizer. Great for blueberries and apples, which grow much faster as a result.
The application in this game is wonderfully straightforward. Select the product in your inventory and use it on the desired field just like you would plant seeds.
You can also use your hotkeys to apply fertilizer, i.e., keys 1 to 8. Press the appropriate key under which the fertilizer was saved, and position yourself over the plants you want to treat.
A white frame appears over each bed you would like to fertilize. Now click on it with the left mouse button. This will put the fertilizer on the bed, and then you can put the desired plant in the ground.
And how do you then recognize which fields have already been fertilized? You can see this by examining the field, which is child's play, with the examine option. But it is also visually displayed because the applied fertilizer is directly visible on the soil surface.
The reason you can use several layers of fertilizer on a bed is that after each game day, a unit of fertilizer is consumed by the plant. Therefore, it is advisable to apply the fertilizer in layers so that your plants always have enough nutrients.
