Today, November 9th, 2021 Forza Horizon 5 finally appeared for all gamers, but there are still some problems on the PC. Among other things, fans complain about a constantly breaking controller connection. But don't worry, we at Guided.news will show you how to fix it!

What is the problem? The Forza Reddit (via reddit.com) is filling up with more and more threads about PC issues. So the start is not going completely smoothly, despite a few days lead time for buyers of the premium version. Most players are currently concerned with the problem of their controller or the steering wheel saying goodbye while the game is running or in the menu.

How to Fix the "Controller Disconnected" Error in Forza Horizon 5

Fix for Xbox and Steering Wheel: To fix the error, all you have to do is press WIN + G in-game to bring up the Xbox Game Bar. Then click anywhere on the screen, but be careful not to move your mouse.

Then press the confirmation button on your controller or your steering wheel and steer with it - that's it! Here again in simple terms:

1. Open Xbox Game Bar (WIN + G)
2. Click on any free area with the mouse
3. Press the "Confirm button" with the controller or the steering wheel.
4. Drive on - but be careful!

PS4 and PS5 Controller Fix: Before we get into the fix we should mention that PlayStation 4 and 5 controllers are not working natively. This is due to the fact, that Forza is made for Xbox and PC, but no worries, we got you covered:

To enable a PlayStation controller on PC you need to download the DS4Windows application (via chip.de). But that is not enough to bring your controller to live:

1. Go to Settings within DS4 and check the box saying "Hide DS4 Controller".
2. Then connect your controller to the PC -- now the light should blink.
3. Go to the Device Manager within Windows and look for "Human Interface Device".
4. Look for "HID-compliant game controller".
5. Plug your controller out and in, so the device manager refreshes.
6. Now "HID-compliant game controller" says it's disabled -- Click enable.

DS4Windows now should show your device. Now you start up Forza Horizon 5. Unfortunately, your work is not done yet. Hold "ALT" and press "TAB" to switch to the DS4Windows window.

Remove your check on the box "Hide DS4 Controller". If it still not works, tab into that window again and enable the box again. Then repeat the steps above. It will show you the Xbox Buttons, but your controller is fine!

When to expect official support from Turn10?

When is an official fix coming? Of course, our method is not a permanent solution. Turn10-Studios should come with a native fix soon. After all, most Forza gamers play with a controller or a steering wheel. Mouse and keyboard are rarely used.

Experience has shown that it should not take longer than one or a few days for the developer to publish a hotfix. However, this is only an assumption and is not intended to reflect an exact date.
