In this walkthrough guide, you will learn how to complete “The Way Up” quest that you do with Natty in Hogwarts Legacy and how to enlarge the Room of Requirements.
What it’s about: This quest is about helping Natty do something about Harlow, which is why you meet up with her at night. As already explained in our “Unlock flying mounts” guide, you will unlock your flying mount at the end of this quest. In addition, you can also rescue a rare puffskein and other beasts, as well as expand your Room of Requirements to accommodate more animal species. So here goes.
Tip for all missions: Walk along every path and open every door to get all the bonuses and extras.
Open the Castle Gate
Meet Natty at night at the location shown on your map and talk to her. Since the castle gate is locked, it’s your task to open it to start your mission. To do this, you need to climb the fortress wall. The map will show you that you have to turn right from the path, where you will find yourself in front of a pile of junk. Climb up the wooden wall and the clay wall that contains handprints.
Go left, and you will find a kind of switch next to a gate that closes a room with a box. Operate the switch with Depulso to open the gate, pull the box with Accio or Wingardium Leviosa out, and take the loot out of the room. Then turn the box upside down with Flipendo and position it in front of the wall with Wingardium Leviosa.
Climb onto the box and then up the wall. Follow the path you can go and destroy the wood blocking the opening in the wall. If you crawl through the opening, you will notice another box blocking your way. To clear it out of the way, you have to crawl out of the wall-opening again and follow the path around the tower. You’ll end up at a dead end here, but you can use the window to look inside and move the box out of the way with Accio. Then go through the wall-opening into the room since the box is no longer blocking your way.

Author’s tip: It’s best to place the Depulso and Accio spells next to each other, since you’ll need them quickly.
In the room, you will find the same switch as at the beginning of this mission. Press the switch in this room so often with Depulso that the gate pulls up completely. Then use Accio to pull the handle that was freed by the gate being pulled up to activate the bracket that holds the gate up. By opening the gate, Natty will join you in the room and the mission will continue. Leaving the room, you can observe Harlow with two poachers trying to tranquilize two captured hippogriffs. After that, you will part ways with natty and a new task for you will begin.
Save Magic Beasts
Follow the path and climb up the wooden wall and further onto the fortress. Keep going, and you’ll end up in front of a window, through which you can look at a box. You’ll need this box in a moment, so fire Depulso at it. Keep going, and you’ll find yourself in a similar situation at the beginning. The box has to be upright again, but this time in front of a wall arch so that you can get up there. So turn the crate upright again using Flipendo and move it to the right place with Wingardium Leviosa.
Climb over the box and then further up the wall. Here you will encounter the first poachers that you have to fight. With Levioso you can lift them up, and with Depulso you can shoot them from the wall if you are in a hurry.
Follow the path until you see puffskein and a niffler behind a barred door. Open the door with Alohomora and catch the animals in the room to save them. There will be one special puffskein, which is marked by a cross.
After this rescue, continue to follow the path until you reach the Hippogriffs, where Natty comes to your rescue and helps you to free them. Afterward, fly after Natty on Cloudwing and finish the task.
Enlarge the Room of Requirements
Return to the Room of Requirements and talk to Deek, who will open another vivarium. This time it’s a beach enclosure with a sea where you can swim. In this vivarium, you can house four more types of magic beasts.
