If you find it strange to fly around on a cleaning utensil in Hogwarts Legacy, you can switch to flying animals instead. Here you can find out what you have to do to unlock the fluttering mounts.

It doesn't happen overnight: In the open world role-playing game Hogwarts Legacy, many spells and key features are unlocked in the course of the main quest. This has the disadvantage that the game world only opens up to you bit by bit. Before you can take part in broom flying lessons, several hours of gameplay will pass, and it takes even longer to unlock the flying animals. Therefore, it is all the more desirable to know when and how exactly the flutterers will become available. We have documented the course of the corresponding quest below.

Now, to unlock your first "flying cab", a white Hippogreif, and flying animals in general, you'll have to advance quite a bit in the main quest. The Hippogreif-related quest is called "The High Keep" and starts after you meet Natsai Onai in front of the Hogwarts building.

Step 1: Climb up the rocky slope to the castle battlements on the right. At the top, cast Revelio and Repulso on the lever of the gate ahead (left). Place the crate to the right of the gate below the holes in the stone wall using the Wingardium Leviosa spell. Now climb on the crate to reach the second floor.

Step 2: Go around the tower with the locked door. There you lift another crate with Wingardium Leviosa and put it somewhere else. Now you can open the locked door. The next stop is a giant gate. Near it, use Revelio and then pull down the lever in the middle of the gate with Accio. Repulso is also needed to make the gate slam down.

Step 3: After following Natty for a while, climb up the wooden barricade. At the top you will see a chest behind a broken door; cast Repulso on it and it will fall down. You need the chest to bridge the partially destroyed stairs, so move it there with Wingardium Leviosa. Use Levioso to keep the crate floating for a while.

Step 4: Further up, you will encounter some guards. Use the invisibility spell here and just take them out with the sneak attack. The locked door on this floor can be opened with the lock picking skill. This is followed by a crunchy fight against a group of rangers and, finally, the flight on the Hippogreif. You can't do much wrong here, just fly after Natty without falling back. And that's it: from this point in the game, flying mounts are available.
