BG3: How to Help Astarion Become Vampire Ascendant
Basically, to make him Ascent, you need to get to Cazador’s house and need to defeat him and several of his allies. After that, Astarion will realize that he now has the opportunity to perform a ritual that will make him a Vampire Ascendant and give him the power that Cazador had before. For this to happen, you just have to be loyal to his decisions and agree to go along with the ritual. Weave your thoughts together so that Astarion can see through your eyes the symbols on his back to carve the same on the back of his former master. That’s all you have to do for the ritual to take place and Astarion to become a Vampire Ascendant.

Astarion Vampire Ascendant Buffs & Consequences
Now all of his unarmed attacks will deal necrotic damage, and he will be able to take on a gaseous form, which Cazador did before during the battle. In general, there will be no major drawbacks to this ritual. Your party is now even stronger, and it will be easier for you to fight in the end.
But your other teammates will react very negatively to the fact that you decided to help. This is because the ritual killed seven thousand innocent spawns. Ulma will be okay with these deaths until she finds out that they were all children of Gur. Also, Astarion will change a lot after the ritual and will become arrogant, sometimes unbearable, and will constantly crave power and approval.
How to Avoid Astarion Ascension
If you changed your mind and do not want to ascend Astarion, you will need to do so very carefully. If you refuse to help or interrupt the ritual, Astarion will get mad, he will kill Cazador and then fight you. Obviously, after that, you will never be at the party with him again. To achieve a good ending and keep him as your ally, you will need to convince him that this decision is wrong, as it will change him and kill many spawns. This will make him change his mind and everything will remain as it was before.
Making decisions in Baldur’s Gate 3 can be very difficult because the consequences can be irreversible. Astarion Ascension is one of the most difficult choices in the game, as the ritual will greatly strengthen your team, but the changes in his personality can be disappointing. But if you think it’s worth it, we hope our guide has helped you to perform the ritual.
