How to Overload the Reactor in Starfield

Deutsch English

In this guide, you will learn how to overload the reactor in Starfield. This is an optional way to complete the First Contact quest, which will become available after you choose a certain line in a conversation with Oliver Campbell.

You will need to somehow get rid of the Constant ship, and there will be three different solutions for this. Interfering with the reactor settings is the most cruel way, but the easiest.

Starfield: How to Overload the Reactor

Starfield: the Reactor Computer

During the First Contact quest, you will have a conversation with Oliver. If you chose the line “Hypothetically, what could make a ship like that go away?” you will have the option to overload the ship’s reactor. To accomplish this, you need to go to the engineering division. When you get there, to the left of the entrance, you will see the Reactor Computer. As you might guess, it is used to control the reactor. To access the computer, you need the Esc Constant Reactor Terminal Key.

The key is with one of the engineers in this room. To get it, you’ll have to pickpocket one of them. Take turns looking in each engineer’s pockets until you find the one with the Esc Constant Reactor Terminal Key. Steal it, and you’ll be able to use the Reactor Computer. When you log in, select the Reactor Computer tab. Next, in the power level selection menu, select the Emergency Reactor Overdrive option.

Now you need to confirm the override. Go to the command bay and use the Captain’s Bridge Computer. To access it, you’ll need a Digipick and pick as many as six keys to the lock. When you log in to the computer, select the Urgent Actions tab and then select Confirm Request. Now you’re done, so just run back to your ship before Constant explodes.
