Strange Chunk of Amber is a fake artifact that you will come across in Act 2 during the Blood of Lathander quest. It literally does nothing, except highlight the area where the hidden entrance to the powerful mace is located. The objective of the quest is to obtain a powerful weapon that grants the owner Lathander’s Blessing, which gives from 2 to 12 hit points when your health is approaching zero. BG3: Strange Chunk of Amber Location
You can find the item in the Mountain Pass region. Get to Crech Y’llek, located under Rosymorn Monastery. The item is located in one of the showcases next to the statues at coordinates X:1335, Y:-655.

BG3: How to Use Strange Chunk of Amber
After you pick it up, it will only highlight the area on the mini-map where you can find a hidden door leading to the Blood of Lathander mace. Solve the puzzle with the statues to open the passageway, which will bring you one step closer to completing the quest. There is no more practical way to use the Strange Chunk of Amber, you can only sell the item to merchants for 55 gold, which isn’t really a big price.
