Varuna Point is the first location you visit in the third chapter of Raft. In our guide or walkthrough, we tell you everything you need to know about Varuna Point in Raft and where you can find all the interesting objects.
When you play the story of Raft, Varuna Point will be the sixth place you visit on your long journey. It was released with the third chapter of the game, released on June 20th, 2022. There are two abandoned skyscrapers on the island. The ruins already serve as a habitat for various species of jellyfish, monkfish and lurkers. Deep down in the foundations of one of the buildings, you'll encounter Rafts first boss: the rhino shark.
What you should know beforehand: To reach Varuna Point, you must first solve the quest of Tangaroa. You will receive a note upon completion that will provide the coordinates of Varuna.
Since you will be spending most of your time underwater at this new location, you should bring an oxygen tank and fins. In the water, you will always find different oxygen bubbles in which you can refill your oxygen.
Your tasks on Varuna Point can be easily divided into 4 missions:
The first thing you have to do in this Varuna Point walkthrough is to explore the floors of the higher building that are below the water surface.
To do this, go to the side of the taller building facing the smaller one and dive there. There you will see a spotlight illuminating a swarm of jellyfish. Underneath is another headlight that does not work. In order to be able to repair this, you have to find the four headlight parts.
You can get past the jellyfish with the right timing: as soon as the beam hits the jellyfish, they briefly move to the side, and you can dive into the opening.
If you're past the jellyfish, you'll find a buoy with a note attached and a G on the wall. The G is a sign that you are on the right track. More buoys will lead you to air shots, which also contain explorable areas full of loot.
From the first buoy, head down the hallway and enter the room on the left. There you will meet a monkfish. If you defeat him, you can wear his head as a headdress. If you go from this room to the next one, you will find the first headlight part there.
Now go back to the hallway and from there into the opposite room. From there head towards the connection room where another monkfish is swimming around. On the headboard of the bed is the second part of the broken headlight.
Now go back to your starting point where you entered the building and use the elevator shaft to swim up one floor. Walk down the hallway to the end and go through the open door. The third part of the spotlight is there on a table next to the second note.
Go back to the area near the elevator shaft and follow the scaffolding out of the water. After that, cross the room on the left to get to the connecting room. On the bedside table next to the bed you will find the fourth headlight piece.
Now that you've collected all the headlight parts, you can swim back to the broken headlight and fix it. Once this is repaired, it lights up and scares away the jellyfish that have been cavorting in front of the hole in the tunnel bridge.
Dive into the tunnel bridge. Since the door to the tall building is locked from the other side, swim to the side of the smaller building is connected. There is another buoy there that leads to an air pocket at the entrance. Swim to the right underwater to find a recipe.
Follow the path until you reach another buoy and go ashore. There you will find another note next to the garbage pile that is near you. From here you have to be careful as the path has been prepared with traps. Pay special attention to trip wires and spikes as you follow the trail. When you see a steel beam, use it to reach a higher floor.
Follow the path full of traps on the higher floor to the scaffolding and go over it to the next floor up. Watch out for traps as you make your way through the halls. Keep walking until you find a hole in the ground. Through the hole, you will enter a room where you will find an Advanced_Headlight Blueprint, another note, and the Motherlode Key.
The crates on the side will take you to the next section, where you'll find loads of junk, materials, and recipes to collect. After that, explore the other areas until you find a drawing of the buildings next to the exit door. The door will take you back to the tunnel bridge.
How to find it: When you exit the smaller building, dive to find the hole that leads back into the building (marked in red on the drawing). You can easily open the closed gate with the Motherlode Key. The drawing showed a second, intact tunnel bridge, to which you now go through the corridors and floors. At the end of the intact tunnel bridge, you will find items that you can take with you. The boss will then suddenly break down the gate that will allow you to enter his arena.
Every major Island has a boss. And so Varuna Point has the Raft boss Rhino Shark. You have to defeat Rhino Shark in three separate steps. In each part, you have to make him swim against the pillars and break them. When you defeat the Rhino Shark, you can go ahead and get the crane key on Varuna Point.
In the first level, you have to make the rhino shark break four pillars to reveal their reinforcement bars. To do this, position yourself near a pillar and alert the boss to attack you. Then immediately swim behind the pillar to make the rhino shark swim against it.
When all the rebars are exposed, grab an explosive barrel from the middle of the floor, place these between the rebars and make the rhino shark swim against it in the same way as before to make the barrels explode. After all four pillars are broken, swim to the next floor.
The next floor has only two pillars, but the rhino shark has to ram them twice to expose the reinforcing bars. Once that's done, take another explosive barrel, position it next to the rebars again, and let the shark swim against it one more time.
Once you have destroyed the pillars, you swim to the last floor
The last floor only has a reinforced pillar that the rhino shark has to swim into three times before the explosive barrel can be placed. The final barrel will defeat the boss if he swims against it, allowing you to collect his meat. In addition, you will receive the Rhinoceros Shark Trophy.
Now swim to the top level to get out of the water. After defeating the rhino shark, you will come to a room where you will find the wind turbine blueprint as well as a crane key which you will need later.
Climb up the ladder and go through the pipes until you reach another door. This is the previously locked door of the tunnel bridge. Open these and head back onto your raft, where you can deposit your loot.
If you have done everything so far, all you have to do is find the coordinates of Temperance Island in order to continue your journey successfully.
Climb up the sides of the taller building using the scaffolding and nests. Your goal is to get to the top of the crane cockpit. Be careful as you will encounter Lurker from now on.
First, climb onto the machine in the center of the building and climb higher by jumping onto steel beams, debris, crates, and scaffolding from there. When you reach the base of the crane, you can use the ladder to climb up. There is an electric grill blueprint and another note on the crane. Collect these before entering the cockpit.
After collecting everything, go to the cockpit and use the crane key to pull the lever to drop the load of bricks onto the smaller building. Jump through the resulting hole and explore the space for additional loot. You can then use the zipline to get to the smaller building.
Once you reach the shorter bridge, go down to the lower floors. There you will find a blueprint for another battery, as well as a note on the desk that says "Temperance".
If you have collected all the notes, you will receive an achievement.
Congratulations, you've completed Varuna Point and can continue your adventure towards Temperance Island.
