When Leon reaches the village for the first time in the remake of Resident Evil 4, he receives the usual warm welcome from the inhabitants. This guide will tell you how to resist the torches and pitchforks of the villagers long enough.
What it’s about: Leon S. Kennedy’s first “visit” to the village of Resident Evil 4 was already no walk in the park in the original game. Right after the villagers burn a policeman at the stake, they all give you their undivided attention at the same time.
In the remake, this fight is also much faster than in 2005, but don’t worry: We know a decent tactic to thank the villagers for their hospitality.

Resident Evil 4 Remake: How to Defeat All Villagers
Actually, at this point of the game, it’s not about putting a bullet in the head of the last resident. You “merely” have to withstand the collective attack long enough. After a few minutes, the rest of the attackers will retreat into the church, including that blood-eyed potato sack with the chainsaw.
The best way to proceed is to run from the village entrance to the marked rock in front of you. You can interact with it to look through your binoculars, but it’s not mandatory. Now run to the left and follow the path behind the houses almost to the village exit in the far northeast. A bit before that, there is a hut with a fenced plot of land, which you enter. The fences protect you almost completely from attacks from behind or from the side. You can see the exact position (green circle) on the map below.
Now you see the villagers approaching in small groups. Wait until they get a little closer to the fence, then throw the flash-bang grenade. After the explosion, run quickly towards the blinded guys and stab at least two of them in the neck with your knife. Depending on the position of the villagers, you can sometimes manage three until they regain their sight.
Then run back into the fenced area and shoot the two foremost attackers once each in the head. Run towards the crowd again and use your melee attack or roundhouse kick (which is bound to the F key by default). Repeat this process until that freak with the chainsaw pushes the gate behind you open and enters the stage.
Now it’s time: Let’s get out of here. Make your way through the crowd in front of you (yes, you can) and run towards the chapel (see green arrow on the map). There you will also see a fenced area where you want to go. There, repeat the process from before: head shots, roundhouse kick, repeat. Shortly after, the church bell will ring, and the attack on you will be abruptly stopped. Done, the search for the president’s daughter can continue.
