Resident Evil 8 Village was released a few hours, but PC players, in particular, are already complaining about a too small Field Of View (FOV for short) and a missing slider, so we'll show you how you can increase your field of view.

What's going on there? Resident Evil 8 comes off great in most reviews. But there is one option missing which especially annoys  PC/Steam players: Resident Evil 8 Village only offers a limited field of view or FOV and no adjustable settings. If the FOV is too small for you, then read on, we have a fix!

Much too small Field Of View in Resident Evil 8 Village - Here comes a remedy

Developers don't want, community does! Unfortunately, the devs doesn't want you to change the field of view natively in Resident Evil 8 Village. There is no graphics option, nor can anything be changed in the game files. For the reviews on Steam, this means a small kink in the otherwise almost flawless rating.

Developer Capcom deliberately opted for a low Field Of View of 65 in order to increase the effect of horror and immersion. Accordingly, it is not surprising that there is no official method to increase the field of view, but the community has already taken precautions!

How to increase the Field Of View in Resident Evil 8 Village

Mod support: It's super simple because you don't have to do anything other than unpacking one file. You won't need a launcher or tools for this. That is how easy it is to install the "Lazy FoV And Vignette Fix" for Resident Evil 8 Village:

  • Download the tool
  • Create a folder and extract it into it
  • Start Resident Evil 8
  • Open the Lazy FoV tool
  • Change the Field Of View and vignetting as you wish

Our recommendation: In the case of Resident Evil 8 Village, a natural-looking FOV is between 80 and 95. Everything beyond that is plagued by the so-called fish-eye effect, in which objects at the edge of the screen are heavily distorted.

There are also some known errors that the tool can cause. So you should turn down the vignetting to avoid an image that is too dark. In addition, the cutscenes are slightly zoomed out, since this in-engine was "filmed", unfortunately, nothing can be changed by now.

The tool has been updated since this post. A F1 hotkey has been added that lets you reset the FoV in real time during cutscenes to resolve that issue. Also if you are using a 'free' version of the game version 1.2 works for the trainer and HardMod. Version 1.2.1 is the updated version that works with the steam version of the game.
