When you pass by the Risen Road next to the Blighted Village, you will see a bunch of Hyenas bloated on the ground. In this guide, we'll tell you whether you should fight or save the Hyena in Baldur's Gate 3.
By choosing one of the options, you can also unlock an interesting side quest. Follow our guidelines to find out which choice will be the best for your further gameplay.
So, when you come across a pack of Hyenas lying on the ground in agony, the cutscene will begin. During this scene, you'll look at one of the Hyenas and find out that it's not actually dying. Instead, you will realize that it is being reborn as a Gnoll, an evil and monstrous humanoid that is spawned from the corpse of the dying Hyena.
If you decide not to kill this Hyena, after the cutscene, it will run to the hill to alert the Gnolls and bring them to you to fight. Additionally, the bloated hyenas will spawn more Gnolls that you will need to defeat.
If you decide to kill this Hyena right away, you will avoid many problems. We recommend that you use your best firepower to destroy a Hyena with a more or less functional body, as well as those Hyenas that are lying bloated on the ground to prevent them from turning into Gnolls. After you do this, you can search the corpses and containers around you to collect loot. In addition, when you search for the Dead Caravan Agent, you will find the Shipment Orders, which will unlock a sidequest called Find The Missing Shipment.
