In the survival sandbox game Sons of the Forest, the safest way to defend your base is to build a wall. But to get in and out yourself, you need a suitable gate that others cannot get through easily. We’ll tell you how to build one.
This is happening: The enemies in Sons of the Forest love destroying your base and stealing your resources. They are much more persistent than in the predecessor. Unfortunately, your house can’t withstand anything, and your door won’t stop them. So to protect your base, you need a gapless and stable wall made of tree trunks. However, you also require a stable gate to get in and out yourself, and you can actually build these in the game.

This is How You Build a Wall Gate in Sons of the Forest.
If you have successfully built a wall in Sons of the Forest and require a gate, a look in the notebook will help. It already tells you how to build a gate; you place a tree trunk across a suitable spot on the finished and pointed wall. Quite simple, really.
This is the current status: With the first major update on March 10th, 2023, the function to set up a gate was added. This was not possible before. Now you can build a gate on a wall as described above. You can then open the gate with a simple click of the E key.
This was the problem: 1 day after the Early Access release, there seemed to be problems. No player can attach the tree trunk to the wall. Only a few players claim that they have managed it and that you only need the right angle, but they fail to provide proof. We also have tried around for hours with all possible combinations, to no avail.

Have you found another temporary solution? Write it down in the comments below. A few players build a staircase on the side of the base to get over the wall with a piece of roof. Then they climb up and down with a rope. Simple but effective.
