In Baldur’s Gate 3, all your companions have their own stories and quests, one of which is Karlach. And in this article, we’re going to show you The Hellion’s Heart quest walkthrough.
When completing the quest related to Karlach, Our Fiery Friend, you will have the side quest Hunt the Devil. After you finish it, and she joins your team, you can start a new quest. Some players may have difficulty completing certain stages of this quest, such as finding Infernal Mechanic or Infernal Iron. But this won’t be a problem for you if you follow our instructions.
BG3: How to Find an Infernal Mechanic
When you complete the quest Hunt the Devil, Karlach will be burning because of the Hellion’s Heart in her chest, and you will learn that to help her, you need to find the Infernal Mechanic. To do this, you need to play up until Act 2 to get to Shadow-Cursed Lands. It is there that you can find an Infernal Mechanic named Dammon, who is located at the Last Light Inn location, the coordinates of which are X:-30, Y:165. After you’ve talked to Dammon, you’ll discover that he can help Karlach if you give him Infernal Iron.
BG3: Where to Find Infernal Iron
We recommend that you have at least one Infernal Iron before coming to Dammon. You can find it in various places, here are a few of them:
- Grymforge: Head west of the merchant behind the waypoint to find Kith. After you talk to him about the ruins and pass his three checks, he will give you Infernal Iron.
- Mason’s Guild: You don’t need to do anything special at this location, just go to Moonrise Towers, and you will find Infernal Iron at coordinates X:-105, Y:20.
- Goblin Camp: You need to get to the location where you fought Ragzlin. When you are there, you need to go up the stairs behind the throne and enter the room to find the chest. To open it, you either need the key you may have gotten from killing Ragzlin, or you can simply lockpick the chest.
- Blighted Village: You need to find the barn, which is located southwest of Druid’s Grove. Once inside, head northeast until you see the Infernal Iron chests at the top and bottom of the ladder.
Unfortunately, Dammon will only be able to cool Karlach down a little bit on the first try, but he will tell you that he needs time to think of a better solution. You can return to the camp for a long rest, and then go back to the Infernal Mechanic. At first, he will tell you the good news that he can stop Karlach if you give him another Infernal Iron, but he will also tell you the bad news that she needs to go back to Avernus, or she will die due to the high temperature.
