When completing Free True Soul Nere in Baldur's Gate 3, you will go to the Underdark where you will be required to meet an Elder Brithvar. Some players complain that when they want to start a dialog with him, they encounter a bug and cannot do so. In this guide, we will show you how to fix the Elder Brithvar bug in Baldur's Gate 3.
Some players may think that this bug is impossible to fix, and the only thing left to do is wait for the next update, but we have prepared some tips for you to fix the Elder Brithvar bug.
While exploring Grymforge, you may encounter the character Elder Brithvar. We recommend that you save before talking to him, so that if you encounter a bug that he doesn't want to talk to you and instead says, "Private Conversation, leave us," you can go back and try again.
The first and most common reason why you might experience this issue is because of items in your inventory that are related to smoke. These could be Smokepowder Bombs or Smokepowder Satchel, so simply remove them from your inventory before you start the talk with Elder Brithvar and the problem should be resolved.

If you didn't have any smoking objects on you, you may have encountered a different problem. This can happen if you talk to Elder Brithvar right away instead of starting a dialog with his partner Kur. All you have to do is load a save file in which you haven't talked to them yet and enter the dialog with them in the correct order. Once you do that, the bug should be fixed.
