If you want to improve your equipment in Tower of Fantasy, you need one thing above all: resources. You can get these from various sources, but the so-called password chests offer you a particularly worthwhile option.
What’s the matter? You can find password chests all over the Aida game world. We’ll explain what these chests are all about, where you can find them and, above all, how you can open them.
Tower of Fantasy: Password Chests Overview
What are password chests? Password Chests are locked loot boxes that can be found throughout Aida. However, they always appear in the same places, so you can use Tower of Fantasy’s interactive map to plan a route to hit several crates one after the other.
By the way, the password chests respawn regularly, so you can open each chest again and again and loot its contents.
How to open password chests in Tower of Fantasy
There are different types of password boxes, each with a specific key (type 1, type 2 and type 3). To open these chests, you can either use the appropriate key or pry open the chest.
If you want to use the so-called decryption chips to open the chest, you need a type 1 chip for a type 1 chest and so on. You get Password Chips by completing bounties or weekly missions. Type 1 chips are the most common, while Type 2 and Type 3 chips are rarer.
If you find a chest but don’t have a matching chip, you can break open the chest. However, this has the disadvantage that you get fewer experience points and inferior rewards from the chest than opening the chest with a matching chip.
Is it worth breaking open chests? The short answer to whether it’s worth breaking into password chests is: It depends. If you have the right chip, you should definitely use it so that you don’t lose XP or useful items unnecessarily. If you happen to find a chest and don’t have a chip ready, you can break it open without hesitation.
What rewards can be found in Password Chests? In addition to experience points, type 1 and type 2 chests mainly contain resources such as weapon batteries, matrix data, cooking ingredients and equipment. Type 3 World Boss Chests can also contain SSR matrices for your simulacra.
Those Other Chests Still Exist
In Tower of Fantasy, there are two other types of chests in addition to the normal loot chests: the co-op chests and the world boss chests. To open the co-op chests, you need the help of another player. Here you have to press two switches to open the chest. As the name suggests, you can open the world boss chests by defeating the associated world boss. But you shouldn’t tackle this challenge solo. If you already have a high-level character with great gear, you can still try.
