As we took part in intense fights and explored the tough world of Baldur's Gate 3, we couldn't find an easy way to save our character from dirt until we found Soap and Sponge. Of course, you can maintain hygiene by inflicting the Wet condition on your character, but this method is much more complicated. So in this guide, we'll show you how to use Soap and Sponge to clean your character in Baldur's Gate 3.

Content of the guide: In this guide, you will learn how to use Soap and Sponge to clean your character.

  • You will learn about the new ways to cleanse your character that have been introduced after the update.
  • We'll elaborate on the mechanics of using Soap and Sponge.
  • You will also learn where to find Soap and Sponge.

BG3: How To Use the Soap and Sponge to Clean Your Character

Dirty BG3 character

Unlike in previous patches, the recent update makes it much easier to clean up your character. While previously you would have needed to wade through deep water, cast the Create Water spell, or pour a bottle of water on your character to inflict the Wet condition, you can now quickly remove filth with Soap or Sponge. This way you can remove blood, dirt, face paint, and conditions that make you smell, so let's talk more about each of these items.

How To Use Soap in Baldur's Gate 3

When we first found Soap, it took us a while to figure out how to use it, and that's because it has a rather strange mechanic. To make your character clean as a whistle, you need to follow these steps:

  • First of all, gather some Soap. You can get it at Walkeen's Rest, Cazador's Palace, Elerrathin's Home, and House of Healing, or you can buy it from Mattis at Mattis' Store.
  • When you have collected enough Soap, your task is to split it up in your inventory. To do this, hover over the stack of Soap, right-click, and then click Split Stack.
  • After that, you can finally make your character clean. To do so, go to the inventory menu, right-click on Soap, and select the character you want to wash instantly.

How To Use Sponge in Baldur's Gate 3

Alternatively to Soap, another way to wash your character that was introduced in the new patch is Sponge. Fortunately, this item is much easier to use, as all you need to clean yourself up is to consume Sponge in your inventory. Even so, this item is not very common, so here are a few places where you can find it:

  • If you go upstairs to Bonecloak's shop, you can find Sponge in the bathroom.
  • You can find Sponge in the house of Elerrathin.
  • Another location where you can find Sponge is the House of Healing.
