The fourth season of Conan Exiles Age of War begins on April 2nd, and Funcom has invited us to check out the new season. We answered the call, and besides many small Quality of Life improvements, two features are especially focused on: Conan Exiles gets its first timed event and the Fatalities known from Age of Conan.

Here's what it's about:

  • Conan Exiles Age of War starts the fourth season on April 2, 2024.
  • Season 4 brings an event, new bases and building parts, new siege weapons, Fatalities, companions, and more.

Conan Exiles: Age of War Season 4 Offers you the First Story Event, but not Forever

The fourth season of Age of War in the survival MMO Conan Exiles will, for the first time, offer a story event called The Sacred Hunt for all players in April. Throughout the game, you will primarily be attacked at night by Werehyenas of the deity Jhebbal Sag. If you defeat them, they can drop clues, like a map drawn in flesh.

The children of Jhebbal Sag, the Werehyenas, will attack you at night.

If you put the puzzle pieces together and discover the location the map leads you to, you can start the event. If you can't figure out the maps, it also helps to look into the night sky. A huge glowing pillar of light shows your destination.

Here you can talk to the NPCs who will tell you more about The Sacred Hunt. It has something to do with the deity Jhebbal Sag, and you will have to face some challenges. Funcom describes the event as follows:

“Monsters stir in the shadows as gods roam the land. In the face of a holy reckoning, hunters are called upon to roam the night and attack the unsuspecting. This new event brings a new story, a central location, powerful enemies to defeat, and much more.”

The event itself is only active during the Age of War storyline and will be taken offline afterward. However, the developers have stated that they will occasionally bring the event back online. When exactly this will happen, though, remains unknown.

Fatalities Make Fights Even More Epic

If you've ever wanted to finish off your opponents in Conan Exiles with a grand finishing move, Season 4 will give you the chance. The Fatalities known from Age of Conan will find their way into the game, and you can execute them with any weapon.

Each weapon offers its own brutal animations to take out your opponents. When you hit an enemy, there's a low chance, about 10%, of staggering them. If you then press the action button (E), you perform a Fatality that immediately takes out your opponent. However, you can only use Fatalities on human enemies.

This adds more variety to the fights in Conan Exiles and ensures that the brutal world in which Conan Exiles is set is further emphasized.

New Boss and Companion From the Midnight Grove

The Midnight Grove, a high-level dungeon from the third Age of War Season, will offer a new boss enemy with the fourth season. This is a large Werebear belonging to the family of Jhebbal Sag. The special thing here is that you only damage the Werebear by wearing various warpaints instead of armor.

The Midnight Grove is the place where you can join the religion of Jhebbal Sag.

The Werebear has a lot of hit points, and the fight is divided into two phases. While the first phase is fairly simple, with your group hitting the Werebear and dodging attacks to avoid being knocked into the air, the second phase is more challenging. Here the Werebear uses the powers of Jhebbal Sag and can perform widespread attacks to the front, among other things.

If you take a different path and fulfill various requirements, you can also tame the Werebear and take it as a companion to your base.

More Content from Conan Exiles Age of War Season 4

In addition to the highlights, there is more content awaiting you in the fourth season. We summarize them for you:

The Purge is Being Expanded

In Conan Exiles, there's always the Purge, where waves of enemies attack your base. With Season 4, the Purges are expanded, introducing new types of enemies. Among them are thieves who turn invisible to sneak past your defenses and wizards who unleash powerful spells on your base from afar.

A new Siege Weapon is Introduced

With the expanded Purge comes a new defense: the Ballista, which you can place on a siege foundation and load with two types of ammunition. Bullets for area damage and bolts for targeted attacks, for example, against Avatars.

Additional Unique Building Pieces are Coming

What should not be missing in a Conan Exiles update? That's right, new building pieces for your base. Season 4 introduces round objects for the first time, allowing you to build real towers, for example. Additionally, more cosmetic skins are added to the game, which you can unlock either in the shop or through the battle pass.

With the new building pieces, you can really create cool castles. Just like the one showcased by Senior Content Manager Tor Egil Anderson.

Quality of Life Improvements

The update also brings some quality of life improvements. Among them, you can now give commands to your companions more easily, as Funcom has significantly improved the user experience here. You have all options at a glance and no longer need to click through nested menus. Additionally, you now have the ability to sort and filter your items even better in your own inventory.

Funcom also listens to feedback from the community, who found leveling the battle pass unnecessarily difficult. Here, the developers are making improvements by giving you three weekly tasks to complete. These tasks alone will level up the pass by 7.5 levels. You also earn experience points through any other actions in the game.
