This is V Rising
V Rising, from Swedish developer Stunlock Studios, mixes Diablo action with vampire lore and survival elements. In the iso perspective, you roam the open game world as a vampire, vanquish your enemies, collect resources and build your own castle.
You can form a clan of 4 with up to 3 other players and try together on 40-player servers to become the strongest vampire with Dracula-like abilities.
Over the course of the game, you can defeat more than 30 bosses to acquire new skills that you can use to create your own fighting style. For example, you can shoot ice arrows at your opponents or turn into animals. Weapons and pieces of equipment also offer various advantages and skills that you can use to further customize yourself.
This is the base building: The base building in V Rising takes a big focus. At the beginning of your adventure, this consists only of simple wooden walls and simple production facilities. Later you can build your own castle in the style of Dracula. This is also important because a base not only offers protection from the deadly sun, but also advantages for production.
Deadly sun: The day and night change in V Rising provides an exciting feature. While you can roam freely at night, the sun can kill you quickly during the day. In the sun, you have to keep sprinting from shadow to shadow to avoid getting fried. There’s also a Blood Moon in between, during which you’ll gain a Strength buff – the perfect time to go hunting.
It should also be possible to command your own slaves. At the moment, we don’t know exactly how this is supposed to work, or whether this feature will already be available at the start of Early Access.
Differences between PVE, PVP, and hardcore PVP servers
V Rising will feature official and unofficial servers, each with space for up to 40 players. Private servers can also accommodate more players, but a maximum of 40 is recommended. While the private servers can be set individually by the owners, the official servers have the following selection:
- PVE
- PVP
- Hardcore PVP
PVE
On the PVE servers, all players are allied with each other. While each player can still build their own private base and clan with three other vampires, they cannot fight each other. So on a PVE server you only have the NPCs as opponents and don’t have to worry about other players.
PVP
On the PVP servers, clan members cannot fight each other, but all other players are fair game. Everyone fights here for themselves or for their clan, when you die you lose all resources in your inventory that can be collected by other players.
However, PVP is only activated in the evenings for 6 hours at a time. During this time, other players can also raid your base and steal the loot. But they can’t destroy your base, probably only the gates can be destroyed.
Hardcore PVP
The hardcore PVP servers are basically the same as the PVP servers. However, if you die, you lose all your loot, including equipment and weapons, and your base can be completely destroyed.
Order your own server
If you are interested in your own server, there are currently two options.
- Host a server locally and invite friends to play.
- Rent a server via GPORTAL.
Other server sellers will surely join in the course of Early Access and also offer servers for rent. However, this is currently only possible with G-PORTAL.com. For 10 slots you currently pay €11 per month. For the recommended 40 players you have to reckon with €25.50.
