After Greg Street announced his departure from the LoL studio Riot Games for personal reasons, he will by no means retire. In a tweet, the WoW veteran announced his plans for the future - and they're quite a few.
What's going on? Greg Street announced his departure from Riot Games a month ago. But that doesn't mean he's giving up his career as a game developer. We summarize what Ghostcrawler is planning now.
What happened? Street announced via Twitter that he would be returning to Texas to be with his family in response to the misfortunes of the past year and his departure from Riot Games. At the same time, however, he emphasized that this step in no way goes hand in hand with his retirement.
Instead, he will build his own development studio, which will implement an MMO or an MMO-like project. Street did not want to reveal exact details at this point - apparently the studio is still being set up at the moment.
The former WoW developer, also known among fans as Ghostcrawler, also emphasized:
If you know me, I value trust, empathy, and open communication, and that applies to both the dev team itself and to players. Most importantly, players will be the judge of whether we win or lose. Things will be quiet for a bit while the adventuring party gears up, but we do plan to share what we’re working on early and often. We want to get you excited, hear your feedback, and give you the chance to catch our mistakes. This is the only way I personally feel I can make great games.
Even though we don't have any information yet about the new studio, the rest of the Ghostcrawler team let alone their first project, fans can eagerly await new details. After all, Greg Street has plenty of experience in the field of MMO development, which he was able to prove with World of Warcraft as well as with the still nameless LoL online role-playing game.
What do you think about Ghostcrawler's new project? Do you have any specific wishes for what the MMO could look like? Write us your opinion about it in the comments!
