Greg Street, known to many gamers as Ghostcrawler, announced today that he is leaving his post as Executive Producer at Riot Games. With this, he is handing over the responsibility of the League of Legends MMORPG. We have all the details!
Who is Greg Street? Greg Street is known in the gaming scene, especially among World of Warcraft players, as the voice of Blizzard. Under his nickname Ghostcrawler, he communicated very openly with the community as Lead System Designer at Blizzard, especially at the time of Wrath of the Lich King, and thus gave players the feeling of being heard. After five years, he moved to Riot Games at the end of 2013 and worked there as Lead Game Designer for the MOBA League of Legends. For the last 7 years, he has been Head of Creative Devlopment at the company and Executive Producer responsible for developing the upcoming LoL MMORPG. Now he surprisingly leaves the studio but gives good reasons.
Why is Greg Leaving Street Riot, and What Will Happen to the LoL MMORPG?
Why Greg Street is leaving Riot: Although not going into all the details, Greg Street has described his motives via Twitter. He had been very quiet on social media for a few months because he needed time. According to him, the reason for this was the loss of his brother at the end of 2022, and his father was also far from well. Now Greg Street has resigned from his position at Riot to have more time for his family, who are still grieving.
Hey internet. Thanks for all the support over the past few months while I was afk
I am back now with some big news to share: I have decided to step down from my role at Riot Games

During his grief, he was able to think about his career in a focused way and decided that it was time to move on. He remains loyal to gaming and has already received many offers from the industry. However, we don’t know where he will ultimately end up. In any case, we wish him all the best for the future!
This is how things stand now with the LoL MMORPG: Since Greg Street was directly responsible for the LoL MMORPG in development as Executive Producer, the question now arises about what will happen to it. Again, he reassures fans, saying he has spent the last few years building an extraordinary team. He firmly believes that this team will manage to build a good MMORPG without him.
In another interview last year, Greg Street mentioned that the development is progressing well, even though no release date can be given yet. The entire team and Riot expect high quality from their products, and the LoL MMORPG will only be released when it can live up to the claim.

The MMORPG is probably already finished to a large extent, and thanks to League of Legends, there is a multi-layered story, world, characters, and everything a credible MMO needs. Nevertheless, this is no guarantee that the MMO will ever be released. It will never see the light of day if it doesn’t meet the expectations of Riots standards.
