In the Cyberpunk 2077 Edgerunners anime, we are introduced to several new characters, including Rebecca. She is a small, trigger-happy young woman whose fans quickly took to their hearts. But she was originally not planned for the anime.
That’s it: Rebecca, currently the most popular character in the cyberpunk anime Edgerunners, has conquered the hearts of fans with her chaotic nature throughout the series. However, it has now emerged that CD Projekt Red, the developers behind Cyberpunk 2077, never wanted Rebecca in the anime.

The Loli Rebecca was never meant to be in Cyberpunk Edgerunners
Rebecca wasn’t even included in Edgerunners’ original script, and Studio Trigger, the animation studio behind Edgerunners, suggested adding her. Some design team members at CD Projekt Red opposed this suggestion, as Rebecca’s character is a loli.
This is a loli: A loli is often used in anime to describe a woman with a more childlike appearance. Rebecca is smaller than the rest of the crew around David Martinez, has a round face, wears pigtails, and is rather petite.
According to the design team, such characters do not fit into the cyberpunk world. However, Studio Trigger believed Rebecca would enrich the anime with her design and demanded, “The Loli must stay!”.
As it turns out, that was the right decision because Rebecca is now one of the most popular characters in anime, alongside Lucy and David. All three are neck and neck in Google Trends, while characters like Kiwi and Maine lag far behind.
CD Projekt Red is also happy with it and even called Rebecca “Best Girl” in an interview.
But who is this “Best Girl” at all? We clarify!
This is Rebecca from Cyberpunk Edgerunners
Rebecca is an Edgerunner from Night City and is described as a small, spunky, trigger -friendly Solo that always fights with her brother Pilar. The two siblings often combine with Maine and his crew to carry out mercenary jobs. People in the cyberpunk universe are described as Solo who can predict dangers precisely due to their training and thus repeatedly escape death.

Rebecca’s Age and Appearance
Rebecca is about 153 cm tall, has white hair bound in pigtails, and striking red eyes with a green circle. Her skin is also very bright, so her Mox tattoos on the neck, stomach, and thighs catch more eye.
Later she gets new arms that seem too big for her, like her brother Pilar, who also had cyber arms. Her character is very moody and impetuous. She is shot and defies every danger.
Her favorite clothing, even if she typically wears a dark sweater, according to the wiki, is simply her black underwear.
Nothing is officially known about Rebecca’s age. However, there are some references to this in the anime.
- She drinks alcohol in a bar, so she must be an adult.
- As a Solo, she has trained for years.
- Her voice in English and Japanese seems mature. In anime, under-18s are often assigned a clearly childlike voice.
- Even after the time warp in the anime, she doesn’t seem older.
Her age at the start of the series is estimated to be around 20.
