According to a report by industry insider Tom Henderson, the PlayStation 5 Pro is actively developing and expected to be released in late 2024. We’ll tell you what to expect.
Here’s what’s happening: The PlayStation 5 has been in high demand and has often sold out since its release in late 2020. Sony failed to produce the console to meet the high demand in the first few years due to Corona and production difficulties. Now, another version is supposed to be released at the end of 2023, but it will not be the Pro version expected by fans.
However, according to industry insider Tom Henderson, information has leaked out that the PS5 Pro is actively in development and will probably be released at the end of 2024.
PlayStation 5 Pro coming in late 2024, PS6 probably not until 2028
Well-known industry insider Tom Henderson has learned that the PlayStation 5 Pro is actively developing. Although Sony has not yet revealed any details, it is assumed that the PS5 Pro, similar to the PS4 Pro, will significantly increase performance.
Henderson expects the PlayStation 5 Pro to hit the market in late 2024. However, another console version of the PS5 is expected to be released as early as the end of 2023. No name is known yet, but it will be a version with a detachable drive. It is also supposed to offer higher performance regarding ray tracing and lower production costs for Sony. This ensures that more consoles can be produced to meet the high demand.
When will the PlayStation 6 be released? The industry insider also assumes that the next console generation, i.e., the PlayStation 6, will not be released before 2028. There were 7 years between the release of the PS4 and the PS5, and the generations before were also 6 to 7 years apart. So if the PS6 comes after 2028, the PS5 will already be over 8 years old, but the Pro version will only be 4.
When can we expect more details? During the Game Mess Decides podcast, industry insider Jeff Grubb mentioned that Sony is planning their show before E3 in June. In this show, they will not only present new games but can also present the latest developments in detail. However, Sony has not yet officially announced when the show will take place.
