Modders have added the well-known DayZ game world Chernarus to the latest Bohemia game Arma: Reforger. We'll tell you everything about the project and how you can play it.

What's going on? Despite various leaks, DayZ 2 is still a long time coming. However, a modification for the latest Arma offshoot Reforger shows what the upcoming survival game might look like. The modder N3crowolf has made the effort and let Chernarus appear in a whole new shine.

Chernarus should be a familiar name to most of our readers: Arma 2, DayZ Mod, and finally the DayZ Standalone. The history of the fictional nation on the Caspian Sea dates back to 2009. However, back then Chernarus looked a bit different, was smaller and featured fewer landmarks and organic locations like the canyon valley in the west of the map. Well, maybe that makes Arma 2 Chernarus closer to the real-life location of the map.

For the version in Arma Reforger, however, modder N3crowolf still opted for the DayZ standalone version, ChernarusPlus. In theory, this means there is more to discover. In reality, however, Chernarus in Reforger is still quite unfinished. The reason for this is that the modder is replacing the assets manually, that is, replacing DayZ's trees, houses and roads with those from Arma Reforger -- one by one. So far completed areas that you can explore in Reforger Chernarus are:

  • The North-West Airfield
  • Lopatino
  • Grishino
  • Devils Castle
  • Vyshnoye and Castle
  • Novy & Stary Sobor
  • Vybor and military camp
  • Tisy Military Base

The area of Chernarus in Reforger that has been completed so far covers about 80 km² out of a total of 225 km². It is not known how long it will take to complete the entire map. However, the exploration is worthwhile for fans of DayZ and Chernarus!

More about Arma and DayZ

This is what DayZ 2 can look like -- but is it coming?

Arma Reforger's impressive graphics are based on a more advanced version of the engine that DayZ also runs on. The upcoming Arma 4 is also said to rely on the Arma Reforger engine. Reforger is more or less a live testing ground for Arma 4, for which there is a short teaser. However, the roadmap for Arma Reforger reveals great upcoming content in the coming months, like helicopters.

DayZ 2 could add a lot of content to DayZ with the help of the Enfusion Engine. However, nothing has been confirmed for DayZ 2 yet. The DayZ developers recently published a content roadmap for the year 2023. Here, the team also explains that DayZ will continue to be supplied with content in the coming year 2024.
