Return to Silent Hill: Both Iconic And New Monsters
Christophe Gans sat in the director’s chair for the 2006 film “Silent Hill”, which was quite successful with box-office takings of $100 million. With “Return to Silent Hill,” the 63-year-old is now responsible for a film adaptation of the Konami horror series based on its most popular game, Silent Hill 2 (2001). Gans himself described his new film to Deadline as “a mythological love story about someone who is so in love that he is willing to go to hell to save someone.”

Return to Silent Hill” is produced by Victor Hadida, who had already launched “The Crow” and “Silent Hill” among others. Deadline also interviewed him about the latest Silent Hill flick. On the subject of monstrosities, Hadida said: “You’ll still find the iconic monsters, but there will also be new designs. We’re confident that this new movie and Konami’s updated game [Silent Hill 2 remake, ed.] together will propel the franchise for years to come.”
Sunderland actor Jeremy Irvine is best known for Steven Spielberg’s “War Horse,” a sequel to “The Woman in Black 2: Angel of Death.” Irvine also starred in the action TV series “Treadstone” and participated in the musical “Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again.” Hannah Emily Anderson, who will portray Sunderland’s great love Mary, rose to fame as Eleanor Bonneville in the horror picture Jigsaw. She landed a starring role in the U.S. network drama series “The Purge,” while in the X-Men universe she starred as Elaine Grey in “X-Men: Dark Phoenix.”
Filming on “Return to Silent Hill” will take place in Germany as well as Eastern Europe starting this April. More details about the release date of the Konami-produced feature film are not yet known, nor is the release date of the Silent Hill 2 remake.
