The Early Access journey of Sons of the Forest is coming to an end as the developers have announced a close release date. As a result, Update 15 is the last one before the final 1.0 version is released.
As Endnight Games announced in a post on Steam's Community section, the release date for the final 1.0 version of Sons of the Forest is now confirmed. The Canadian team set the date for February 22, 2024. This means that the developers are only about four months away from the release.
At the same time, the game studio stated in the relevant post that Update 15, which is released today, is the last regular update for the successful survival game. However, they will release hotfixes "as needed" until the release on February 22, with the main focus now on the content of the final 1.0 version.
In addition to the announcement of the release date, Endnight Games also briefly discussed their plans for the full version:
We are also excited to announce Shawn Ashmore has joined the cast and will be voicing Timmy as we expand his role in the game and story. In addition to story updates, new features and polish, v1.0 will also include the final ??? piece.
The studio concluded by thanking "everyone who has joined [...] on this Early Access journey so far." They are very excited about what they will have in store for the release of the final version "and beyond."
The content of Update 15 for Sons of the Forest is a well-guarded secret by Endnight at the time of writing. The survival specialists had recently released two hotfixes, mainly addressing minor issues with textures, texture streaming, and crafting recipes.
