There are still nine days until Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is officially released. But due to a massive leak, the game is already out, and for PC players, there is already a mod that boosts the frame rate up to 60 FPS.
Here's what's going on: recently, the new Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom was leaked in full, and since then, new footage and gameplay have been popping up every hour. The game is also already playable on major Nintendo Switch emulators like Yuzu and Ryujinx. But that's not all: players who play the new Zelda via an emulator on their computer can even download a 60 FPS mod already.
The prequel, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, was already playable via emulators. It was even one of the most emulated Nintendo games of all time. However, what is happening now with Tears of the Kingdom is another dimension. The game is still more than a week away from its official release, and yet numerous gamers seem to be playing it via an emulator on their computer. At least that's what the countless comments under the videos and on Reedit so far suggest.

Even though most of the videos are quickly deleted again, it is still clear that Nintendo can only do damage control here.
The most popular emulators for Nintendo games are Yuzu and Ryujinx. Considering that the game was leaked only about 24 hours ago, it is quite remarkable that it has not only been emulated by now, but there is even a mod that delivers up to 60 FPS. However, the comments under the video also show that there is still some need for optimization. Many players do not reach the promised 60 FPS, and some graphical bugs remain, especially during cutscenes.
