The Parasaur is one of the animals you can ride very early on in ARK: Survival Evolved. Already at level 9 you can unlock his saddle. The Para can also be used as a mobile alarm system.
In our guide to the Parasaurolophus, Parasaur, or Para for short, you will find out everything you need to know about the herbivore. But also how to catch him, tame him, feed him, and breed offspring too.
This is the Parasaur in ARK: Survival Evolved
Appearance: You can recognize the Parasaur by its curved head crest and its large duck bill. The main colors you will find are: red, brown and green.
Wild: The Parasaur is a passive herbivore that will attempt to flee even after being attacked, and can also have its eggs stolen quite easily. Once you startle it, it will send out a distress call, warning the other Parasaurs of danger.
Tamed: This dinosaur is a good mount, especially at the beginning of the game, because its saddle consumes few resources and can already be unlocked at level 9. He’s also a living alarm system: you can put him in turret mode, warning you of any approaching creatures and enemies. He can’t move while doing this, making him an easy target. For this reason, you should place dinosaurs near him, which can protect him in case of an attack.
How to tame the Parasaur in ARK
How to hunt the Parasaur: Very unspectacular you take a crossbow or your bow and shoot him, since he will flee if you have enough stamina and movement speed, or fix him directly with a bola and shoot him until he K.O. is.
How to tame him: Once he’s unconscious, put berries or kibble in his inventory and feed them to tame him. In order to keep the stun value high when taming, it is best to use Narcoberries or the Narcotic.
How to make the Parasaur saddle
To craft the Parasaur Saddle, you need level 9 and 8 engram points to unlock the recipe. You now need the following resources to craft:
- 80x Hide
- 50x Fiber
- 15x Wood
How to feed a Parasaur in ARK
Once you have tamed your Parasaur, it is important to know what it likes to eat. Parasaurs are herbivores, which of course makes the choice of food easier.
- Basic Kibble:
- Ingredients: 1x Extra Small Egg, 1x Cooked Meat, 5x Fiber, 5x Mejobeeren, 10x Armarberries, 10x Tintoberries, 1x Water
- Vegetables
- Berry
- Fresh Barley
- Soybeans
- Fresh Wheat
- Dried Wheat
How to breed the Parasaur in ARK
This is how you prepare the breeding: If you have a male and female specimen, you build an enclosure that is large enough at best. Put both dinos in the pen and set them to “wander” via the command menu. Alternatively, you can also switch directly to “Pair”, but then there must always be a player nearby, otherwise the pairing will stop due to the rendering.
The breeding interval of a Parasaur is 18 to 48 hours.
How to Hatch Eggs: If you have obtained a fertilized Parasaur Egg from a successful mating, hatching begins. For this, the ambient temperature of the egg should be between 24 °C and 28 °C and in the egg incubator at 26 °C. According to standard settings, the little Parasaur baby hatches after about 1.5 hours. After that, it takes about 2.5 hours of your attention, during which you keep putting food in its inventory. Pay attention to the embossing intervals every 8 hours to tickle the greatest potential out of the baby.
Once it gains juvenile status, it can feed from troughs on its own. The entire ripening time lasts about 1 day and 2.5 hours.
