Baldur's Gate 3 is an RPG, and like many games of this genre, the results of battles and dialogues depend on the roll of a dice. But often random is not on the player's side, so you will be interested to know how to increase your chance to hit in Baldur's Gate 3.
Here’s what it is about: you can significantly increase your chances to hit if you know how the game mechanics work and use spells or environments correctly.
One non-obvious tip is to enable the karmic dice option in the game settings. It won't increase your chances of hitting, but it will prevent a long series of wins or losses when rolling the dice. And below, we will give you tips that you can use during the battle to increase your chances.
Your choice of equipment should be based on your character's class and race. Your dice rolls largely depend on proficiency, so if you have high Dexterity, then choose ranged weapons. As for armor, you should not wear it if you have a low proficiency for it. If you do, you will get a Disadvantage during the battle, which means that you will roll the dice twice, but the lower value will be taken into account.

Different classes have different rules to follow during combat to increase your chances to hit. Ranged characters need to be away from enemies during the attack, as close combat will cause Disadvantage. It is better to move away first, but keep in mind that the enemy will be able to use Attack of Opportunity against you. You can also Disengage, but then you will not be able to attack.
These rules also work for spellcasters, but there are some differences. Such classes have some spells that, for example, do not receive buffs or penalties due to elevation or deal guaranteed damage regardless of the result of the die.
For melee characters, everything works the other way around. They are much more effective if there are enemies near them. Also, this positioning will make it more difficult for enemies to get to your ranged characters.
In terms of defense, pay attention that enemies attack according to the same rules as the player. This means that if your melee character is standing right next to a ranged enemy, he has to retreat, or he will get Disadvantage.
Try to be higher than the enemy if you are using a ranger or spellcaster. Find a hill and then your attack rolls will get +2. Accordingly, if you are lower than the enemy, you will lose 2 points when rolling the dice.
Also, hide before the battle to get an Advantage and increase your chance of a successful attack. But it is worth keeping in mind that there is armor in the game that will have a bad effect on Stealth Checks, so make sure you do not use it. It's also a good idea to attack from behind or from the flank before the start of the battle, which will also positively affect your chances of rolling.
Try not to attack in the dark as this will reduce your chances of hitting. Use a torch or spell to light up the room. If you can see in the dark, use it to your benefit and turn off the lights if possible. This way, the enemy will get Disadvantage when attacking.
It can be difficult to make the RNG in your favor, and because of the constant failures, many gamers do not like the mechanics of dice rolling. But in fact, if you consider various factors and use the tools provided by the game, you can minimize your chances of missing.
