Like in many other survival games, wood in Conan Exiles is an extremely important resource. And there are lots of different kinds of wood: dry wood, shaped wood, or insulated wood. In this guide, we will teach you everything you need to know about shaped wood and you will learn to craft it.
There are plenty of different crafts in Conan Exiles, which need a good amount of shaped wood. Even strong weapons, armor pieces, and other items require it. To be honest, you can't have enough shaped wood - never. Of course, you can use simple wood or branches from the ground for weapons as well, but this is a bad alternative compared to shaped-wood-items. Shaped wood is much more resilient and resistant.
The good thing is: you don't need to collect lots of different resources and materials to craft shaped wood. You only need simple wood. A big chunk of simple wood. To convert the wood into shaped wood, you need a carpenter's bench. You can craft this bench at Level 10 for 2 feat-points. The only other requirement you need is the stone tools talent.
Put the bench in your base and start placing the wood into it, to craft shaped wood. In the early stages of the game, you will get 1 x shaped wood for 10 x wood. As you progress and level up your bench combined with a T3 carpenter thrall you will only need 7 x wood for 1 x shaped wood.
Without shaped wood, you are not able to build any kind of better buildings than T1 buildings. For every upgrade, you need this resource. And there's a good reason for it: there is no better sort of wood, it is the most stable and resistant. One good example is the T3 upgrade for your wheel of pain. For this very important building, which is required for getting more slaves, you require an amount of 200 x shaped wood.

Beyond the relevance for building upgrades, shaped wood mostly is a component for weapons or armor crafts. The Kingslayer Polearm for example requires 8 x shaped wood. As you can see, your base and your gear in Conan Exiles won't improve without shaped wood. So it's expedient to start crafting shaped wood at the very beginning of your journey and keep this progress going.
