The Red Velvet is a 5-star dessert that was added to the game through the 'A Rift in Time' add-on for Disney Dreamlight Valley. In this guide, we will show you the ingredients you need and how to get them to make this dish.
Our guide covers the following topics:
To make this 5-star dessert, you need to grow, harvest, pick, or purchase the following ingredients:
Wheat: You can purchase wheat seeds for just one coin at Goofy's stand in the Peaceful Meadow (main game) or at Goofy's stand in the Ancient's Landing on the Eternity Isle (A Rift in Time). After planting the seeds, you only have to wait for one minute before you can harvest the grown wheat. Then, you can either sell it for 2 coins each or eat it to gain 19 energy.
Cheese and Eggs: These foods are only available at Remy's shop, which is inside his restaurant. There, you can buy cheese for 180 coins and eggs for 220 coins. If you decide to eat both ingredients, you'll receive 270 energy from the cheese and 330 energy from the eggs.
Cocoa Beans: You can find cocoa beans on the Sunlit Plateau or the Glade of Trust, where you can pick them from trees. If you eat them or use them in a dish, you or the dish obtain 450 energy. Cocoa beans grow back after 30 minutes, which allows you to use them again, eat them, or sell them to Goofy for 38 coins each.
Vanilla: Vanilla is a spice that exclusively grows on the Sunlit Plateau and can be easily picked from the ground, just like any other spice. By eating it, you regain 135 energy, and if you choose to sell it to Goofy, you'll earn 50 coins per piece.
Author's Tip: After buying vegetable seeds, plant them in the same biome as you bought them, which lets them grow faster. By using the ancient gardener, you won't have to lift a finger except for picking the fully grown plants. |
While preparing the Red Velvet, the values of all the ingredients are added together and increased through cooking. Here are the resulting values:
You can now decide, what you want to do with this prepared 5-star dessert. To get the energy we mentioned above, you have to eat it. By selling the cake, you will receive the mentioned number of coins. Alternatively, you can gift it to a resident if it's one of their favorite gifts to increase your friendship level.
By cooking various meals in Disney Dreamlight Valley, you can gain some benefits that can be helpful in quests and other tasks. Additionally, the prepared dishes can help you to level your friendships with the residents faster, earn coins, and recharge your energy or receive some extra energy. Below, we'll explain all the advantages in more detail.

Each resident has three favorite gifts that change daily, and often include one or two specific meals. Since these dishes are preferred, you'll earn more friendship points by giving them away. Friendship points are essential to reach the next friendship level.
Besides these three favorite gifts, 5-star dishes, in general, are excellent for boosting your friendship level fast. You can also earn extra friendship points by serving residents' orders at Remy's restaurant.
Every activity you do in Disney Dreamlight Valley consumes your energy, which you can easily regenerate by eating dishes. If your energy bar is already full, and you eat a dish, you'll get extra energy, shown in gold on the energy bar. You can use this extra energy for surfing, which lets you move around the valley faster.
Turn your cooked dishes into coins by selling them profitably at one of Goofy's many stalls in the Valley. The prices of all the different dishes will vary depending on the choice and quantity of ingredients used. You can check the values of the dish you prepared, or the ingredients, that you gathered, in your collections or inventory.
In every biome of Disney Dreamlight Valley, you'll find different types of animals that you can become friends with. You can build these friendships by serving their favorite food to these adorable critters, which for most animals are simple, raw ingredients.
However, there are exceptions, like the Ravens of the Forgotten Lands, who only accept 5-star dishes. Equally, picky are the monkeys in the Ancient's Landing on the Eternity Isle, who require dishes with at least 3 stars and bananas as the base ingredient.
In certain quests, you'll receive a task from your quest giver or from a resident involved in the quest to prepare specific dishes to progress or complete the quest. Usually, you'll get the recipes for these dishes right away, but there might be times when you have to figure out the recipes yourself.
The tasks of the Star Paths can be more or less specific. Some tasks involve preparing or eating a set number of dishes, that have a certain number of stars. Of course, it's also possible that you have to cook or eat a specific number of particular dishes. In the end, you have to prepare the dishes in either case to fulfill the task of the Star Path.
