Hogwarts Legacy: How to Get Your Broom for Flying

You need a broom to fly if you want to explore the large game world in the Harry Potter RPG Hogwarts Legacy. Our guide will tell you how to get your first broom and how flying works.

This is why flying makes sense: The game world of Hogwarts Legacy is huge and includes many more areas than just the School of Wizardry. Of course, you can learn how to fly with a broom to advance effectively and not spend forever running. This will not only speed up your travel speed but also your safety. This way, in many situations in the outside world, you can easily avoid enemies in the air and escape if you don’t want to fight.

Here’s How to Get Your First Broom to Fly in Hogwarts Legacy

To finally be able to fly in Hogwarts Legacy, you’ll first have to take flying lessons with Madam Kogawa. You will get this opportunity during the main story after you’ve completed around 15 main missions. You will receive the main mission “Flying Class” and can then learn to fly in the southeastern Hogwarts courtyard.

This is how the mission works: During the mission, you have to grab one of the many brooms and then fly through 3 rings in the courtyard. After that, you’ll be allowed to lap around Hogwarts, flying through more rings. In the end, you’ll be challenged by a student; you’ll follow him and fly some risky maneuvers. You’ll learn how to fly faster by leaning forward.

Once you have completed the main mission, a new side mission awaits you, which you will find in your log. It is called “Flight Test”. In this side mission, you have to go to Hogsmead and visit Albie Weekes, the owner of Spintwitches Sporting Needs. Here you will have the opportunity to buy your first broom.

If you don’t have the side quest immediately available, do one or two main quests and then check your log again.

Here you have the choice of 5 different brooms, which differ only in design and all cost 600 gold:

  • Ember Dash Broom: 600g
  • Hogwarts House Broom: 600g
  • Wind Wisp Broom Version 1: 600g
  • Wind Wisp Broom Version 2: 600g
  • Yew Weaver Broom: 600g

Once you have decided on a broom and made the purchase, you can call it up outside of Hogsmead via the quick menu and fly straight away. YouTuber Backseat Guides also has the whole thing in video form for you:
