The third playtest of Dark and Darker also turns the treasure hunters of the Citadel into miners now. But how does mining actually work and what items are needed for it?
Here’s what you need to know about mining: In addition to new items and systems, the new features of the third playtest of Dark and Darker also include a mining mechanic. With this, dungeon treasure hunters can now exploit resource-rich rocks scattered all over the underground.
However, this isn’t quite as easy as it sounds. Because Dark and Darker has different character classes with individual attributes, it is necessary to know the items needed for mining. This guide explains in detail how mining works in the online dungeon crawler.
Mining in Dark and Darker: Go For the Pickaxe
At least it shouldn’t be a problem to find the recently coveted rocks. They spawn in quite conspicuous places on the map and can’t be overlooked anyway due to their size. There are currently four maps in Dark and Darker, all of which contain boulders. Anyway, not all of them are mineable or actually contain resources.
Right now, there is only Ruby Silver: To be precise, there is only one “mining rock” in this third playtest, namely Rubysilver. These are particularly large, reddish rocks that spawn randomly in all locations on the maps.
Where to get the pickaxe: Of course, the ruby silver rock can’t be mined with your bare hands or weapons; no, you’ll have to get a pickaxe first. There are two ways to do this: Either buy the tool for 25 gold pieces from a blacksmith, or set about killing a few other players as they might drop a pickaxe.
Your mining helper should automatically go to your inventory, but make sure it occupies a quickslot for quick access. You can now scour the game’s maps for rubysilver, using the F key to start mining. By tapping on the rocks, you’ll fill a mining bar. As soon as it’s completely filled, you’ll get the reddish resource.
What is ruby silver good for? Basically, this raw material can be processed into other materials and used to make weapons and armor. For example, ruby silver ore can be turned into ruby silver powder or ruby silver ingots, which in turn can be used to make ruby silver armor and ruby silver clothing. Of course, you may also sell all resources and products: the “Utility Trading Room” is suitable for this.
