How to Get the Disguise Self Spell in BG3
The Disguise Self spell is not available to all classes. You must be one of the following classes to acquire this spell:
- Wizard
- Bard
- Sorcerer
- Trickery Domain (Cleric)
- Gloom Stalker (Ranger)
- Eldritch Knight (Fighter)
- Arcane Trickster (Rogue)
- Warlock Eldritch Invocation: Mask of Many Faces

BG3: How to Use Disguise and Change Appearance & Race
The most obvious way to use the Disguise Self spell is to disguise yourself in front of unfriendly characters. For example, you might have a bad relationship with a merchant if you bargained too low or if you stole something from him. Use the Disguise Self spell so that he doesn’t recognize you and can offer you better prices.
If, for some reason, you need to enter the territory of enemies or a race that dislikes other races, such as the Githyanki, use the Disguise Self spell and transform into their appearance. This way, you can remain undetected so that you can do what you need to do without having to fight.
Also, there are many passageways in the game that will be too small for some races to fit through. However, this won’t be a problem if you use the Disguise Self spell to transform into one of the smaller races, such as the Dwarf race. You can also combine this spell with the Enlarge and Reduce spells first to become even smaller.
