In Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, it's possible to change the jobs of the heroes. Alex, our expert on Sega's Yakuza series, explains how to unlock jobs and where you can change them.
Everything you need to know about unlocking and switching jobs (TLDR):
In Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, "jobs" refer to the later selectable subclasses (possibly even character classes) of the heroes. Under the "Party" section of the pause menu, you can view the jobs of Ichiban, Chitose, Namba, and others at any time, but they cannot be changed at the beginning. This is indicated by lock symbols next to the numerous entries in the character's job list.
To unlock jobs, the following requirements must be met:
Once you meet the requirements mentioned above, head to Alo-Happy Tours in the northeastern part of Waikiki (Hawaii), specifically in the center of Aloha Street. Walk north towards the Worldwide Market Village until a cutscene begins. Refer to the screenshots below for reference.
In this cutscene, you'll encounter two enthusiastic Alo-Happy Tours employees who want to introduce you to their service. This event is actually Substory 31, "Let's Get Alo-Happy." But what does a travel company have to do with hero jobs?
The answer is simple: Alo-Happy Tours offers tourist activities in Hawaii that inspire Kasuga and his friends to adopt new combat styles, i.e., jobs. By participating in these activities (which you must sign up for at the Alo-Happy Tours counter), you gradually unlock jobs like Aquanaut, Pyrodancer, Detective, and Action-Star, provided you meet the specific requirements.
By improving Ichiban's personality values to level 3, you already meet the requirements for several jobs. However, only the first activity (and thus, the Aquanaut job) is free. Each additional job costs a fee ranging from 200 to 1600 dollars (as shown in the image below).
To unlock all immediately available jobs, Ichiban's personality values should consistently reach level 5. Each job challenges a different attribute, with Confidence being particularly important. It's recommended to upgrade Confidence to level 5 first.
While you might expect to change jobs conveniently through the party menu, the reality is different. Changing jobs can only be done by revisiting Alo-Happy Tours, where you need to enter the changing room (see the image below).
Since the Hawaii map is quite extensive, Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio developers kindly placed two branches of Alo-Happy Tours in Waikiki. In addition to the main branch south of the Worldwide Market Village, there is another branch in the west of paradise, on Anaconda Boulevard. Refer to the screenshots below for their exact locations and appearances.
