In Like a Dragon: Ishin you can forge a whole range of weapons for Sakamoto Ryōma. However, the resources you will need for this won’t just fall into your lap. Fortunately, our guide will tell you where to find all the stuff necessary for crafting weapons.
Here’s the deal: Kazuma Kiryu, who became a samurai in Like a Dragon: Ishin, doesn’t have an easy time in 1860s Kyo, as he hardly impresses the members of the Shinsengumi with standard weapons. Fortunately, however, blades or guns can be made in forges that exceed the damage of bar stock by up to ten times.
Anyway, this often requires rare raw materials like gold nuggets and phoenix feathers, and these are things that can’t be found in roadside bins. Early on in the game, we too wondered where exactly to look for the resources to craft weapons. In the meantime, however, we have found what we were looking for, and have documented the locations of the “ingredients” below.
Finding All Resources for Weapons Crafting
Some important notes beforehand: Like a Dragon: Ishin follows the conventions of the Yakuza series. Thus, it’s not possible to create weapons in the inventory; instead, you’ll have to visit certain locations again. In this case, these are forges, one of which is located in the Rakunai district of Kyoto. It becomes available in the course of the third chapter. It will be unlocked automatically as soon as you first go to the location marked on the map below.
You can see which raw materials and items you need for crafting each weapon in the blacksmith’s crafting menu. Many of those can also or exclusively be obtained from battle dungeons, which can only be entered from the fifth chapter onwards, and only in the context of corresponding Shinsengumi orders. Take them on in the Shinsengumi Barracks.
