In Outcast 2 - A New Beginning, brewer Marzo tasks our hero, Cutter Slade, with the mission of collecting Lampé Pistils for Lampé. Our Outcast expert is here to share insights on where to find this ingredient, what it looks like, and how to collect it.
How to find and collect Lampé Pistils (TLDR):
Pilam-Pistils are harvested from flower-like plants growing on vines high up in Adelpha.
As part of the "Lampé for Everyone" quest, Cutter must gather Lampé Pistils near the village of Bidaa.
To reach the ingredient, use a bounce mushroom in the target area that propels the hero up a mountain to a large plant.
Interacting with this plant starts a mini-game where Cutter must glide through all the Lampé flowers.
Position Cutter in the middle of the vine with plants, perform a vertical jetpack jump, and activate the glider in mid-jump. Briefly slow down whenever the gliding picks up speed.
Outcast 2: What Lampé Pistils Look Like & Where to Find Them
Upon reaching the village of Bidaa in Outcast 2 - A New Beginning, you'll meet brewer Marzo near a bluish shimmering watermill. He informs Cutter of a shortage of Lampé, which seems to be a kind of beer or at least an alcoholic beverage.
Starting the "Lampé for Everyone" quest through dialogue with Marzo, you're tasked with collecting 3 different ingredients, one of which is Lampé Pistils. The quest marker leads you just outside the village of Bidaa, where you need to collect 12 of those.
Initially, we mistakenly searched for the plants on the ground. However, they actually grow on vines in higher places. To reach the Lampé Pistils, continue past the quest marker. Look up, and you'll spot the vine with them.
In Outcast 2, when you're in the target area for collecting Lampé Pistils, just look up. You'll spot the vine with them hanging from it.
How to Gather Lampé Pistils
Close to the position in the image above, on a rocky ledge to the left, you'll find a bluish bounce mushroom (see screenshot below). Use it to reach a mountain behind you.
Walking a bit further in the target area, you'll discover this bounce mushroom on your left. (Outcast 2)
Near your landing spot, there's a huge plant (as shown in the image below). Interacting with it—which on PC is done by pressing the E key—initiates a mini-game where Cutter must glide through 12 Lampé Pistils to the right of the large plant.
The mushroom catapults you to this plant, which you need to interact with. (Outcast 2)
The shape of the vine plants suggests where the hero should glide through, forming circular gates. However, the task is not as simple as it appears because the glide can become unstable, risking Cutter's crash. Beware: if his feet touch the ground, the quest fails, and the gate flight must be restarted.
Place Cutter as shown in the image, then perform a jetpack jump and activate the glider. (Outcast 2)
Glider Mastery
Pro tip: To save yourself from frustration on the following glide, follow these steps.
With the vine with Lampé Pistils in view, move Cutter slightly to the left so he's relatively centered in front of the first plant. Note: the current in-game glider tutorial mistakenly states the glider is activated with ALT+R. Instead, use the F key.
Now, perform a vertical jetpack jump. At the peak, activate the glider and immediately press W to glide downward towards the first plant. This is crucial as opening the glider without jumping usually results in a quick descent.
Whenever the glide speeds up after a moment, avoid it by briefly (!) braking with the right mouse button. Be careful: holding the right mouse button too long may cause a drastic loss in altitude. Cutter must pass all 12 "gates" in one go, or the quest fails.
Glider control requires finesse, not just because of the pilot controls with an inverted Y-axis. Generally, it's best to make only small adjustments to the flight direction up or down to keep the glide stable.
Whenever the glide becomes too fast, briefly slow down with the mouse. (Outcast 2)
