Pokémon Scarlet and Violet: How to beat the Elite 4

If you choose the path of the champion in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, you have to compete against the elite 4, as well as the top champion Geeta and against your friend/rival Nemona, at the end of it.

This guide will show you how to best prepare, what Pokémon types to use, as well as everything you need to know to become a champion.

How to find the Elite 4 in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet

Before you can really get started, you’ll need to get to the Pokémon League, which is located behind the Academy in Mesagoza City. You can only get access to the Elite 4 after you’ve earned all 8 medals in the Paldea region.

The Elite 4—The first Exam—All Questions and Answers

Once you’ve found the Pokémon League, the only thing standing between you and the Elite 4 is an interview, that you have to take with Rika. You’ll have to answer a few questions in order to pass.

Questions Rika Will Ask You

Question 1: How did you get here today?

Answer options:

  • I walked
  • I rode on my Pokémon
  • I came by flying Taxi

Answer: Select how you got to the Pokémon League.


Question 2: Please tell me the name of the school you are enrolled in.

Answer options:

  • Manzana Academy
  • Naranja Academy
  • Uva Academy

Answer: Choose your Academy.

  • Scarlet: Naranja Academy
  • Violet: Uva Academy

Question 3: So, what brings you to the Pokémon League today?

Answer options:

  • I came to catch Pokémon
  • I came to become a Champion
  • Just for fun, I guess…

Answer: I came to become a Champion.


Question 4: Now, what do you intend to do if and when you become a Champion?

Answer options:

  • I want to become even stronger
  • I want to battle Nemona
  • I want to find treasure

Answer: Choose an answer and remember it for question 7.


Question 5: Which of the eight Gyms gave you the most difficulty?

Answer options:

  • Here you can choose from all gyms, but you must specify the name of the gym leader and the corresponding Pokémon type of the gym you were competing against.

Answers:

  • Cortondo Gym Leader – Katy – Bug
  • Artazon Gym Leader – Brassius – Grass
  • Levincia Gym Leader – Iono – Electric
  • Cascarrafa Gym Leader – Kofu – Water
  • Medali Gym Leader – Larry – Normal
  • Montenevera Gym Leader – Ryme – Ghost
  • Alfornada Gym Leader – Tulip – Psychic
  • Glaseado Gym Leader – Grusha – Ice

Question 6: What was the category of the Pokémon you picked to be your first partner?

Answer options:

  • The Grass Cat Pokémon
  • The Fire Croc Pokémon
  • The Duckling Pokémon

Answer: Depending on which Pokémon you have chosen, you must choose the following answer:

  • Sprigatito = The Grass Cat Pokémon
  • Fuecoco = The Fire Croc Pokémon
  • Quaxly = The Duckling Pokémon

Question 7: Remind me, what do you intend to do if and when you become a Champion?

Answer options:

  • I want to become even stronger
  • I want to battle Nemona
  • I want to find treasure

Answer: Choose the same answer here that you already answered in question 4.


Question 8: Do you like Pokémon?

Answer options:

  • Yes
  • No

Answer: Yes

Once you have answered all the questions correctly, you will move on to the first battle.

Elite 4: How to beat Rika

Directly after your interview with her, you already have to fight against her. The following Pokémon await you, and they have these weaknesses:

Pokémon (Level 57–58) Weaknesses
Whiscash – Type: Water / Ground Grass
Camerupt – Type: Fire / Ground Water, Ground
Donphan – Type: Ground Grass, Water, Ice
Dugtrio – Type: Ground Grass, Water, Ice
Clodsire – Type: Poison / Ground – Tera Type: Ground Grass, Ice

Elite 4: How to beat Poppy

Once you’ve managed to defeat Rika, you can heal your Pokémon, which you should do before facing any subsequent Pokémon:

Pokémon (Level 58–59) Weaknesses
Copperajah – Type: Steel Fire, Fighting, Ground
Magnezone – Type: Electric / Steel Fire, Fighting, Ground
Bronzong – Type: Psychic / Steel Fire, Ground, Ghost, Dark
Corviknight – Type: Flying / Steel Fire, Electric
Tinkaton – Type: Fairy / Steel – Tera Typ: Steel Fire, Fighting, Ground

Elite 4: How to beat Larry

After your successful victory against Poppy, you may now face Larry and his Pokémon.

Pokémon (Level 59–60) Weaknesses
Tropius – Type: Grass / Flying Fire, Poison, Flying, Rock, Ice
Oricorio – Type: Electric / Flying Rock, Ice
Altaria – Type: Dragon / Flying Rock, Fairy, Dragon, Ice
Staraptor – Type: Normal / Flying Electric, Ice, Rock
Flamigo – Type: Fighting / Flying – Tera Type: Flying Electric, Ice, Rock

Elite 4: How to beat Hassel

Once you’ve defeated Larry, you’ll come to your last opponent of the Elite 4: Hassel, before fighting against the Top Champion Geeta.

Pokémon (Level 60–61) Weaknesses
Noivern – Type: Flying/ Dragon Rock, Fairy, Dragon, Ice
Haxorus – Type: Dragon Fairy, Dragon, Ice
Dragalge – Type: Poison/ / Dragon Ground, Dragon, Ice, Psycho
Flapple – Type: Grass / Dragon Poison, Flying, Dragon, Fairy, Ice, Bug
Baxcalibur – Type: Ice / Dragon – Tera-Type: Dragon Fairy, Dragon, Ice

How to beat Top Champion Geeta

Now that you’ve defeated the entire Elite 4, you’re in for a tougher fight, and that’s against the top champion of the Paldea region: Geeta.

Pokémon (Level 61–62) Weaknesses
Psiopatra – Typ: Psycho Bug, Ghost, Dark
Chevrumm – Typ: Pflanze Bug, Fire, Flying, Poison, Ice
Agiluza – Typ: Wasser / Psycho Grass, Electric, Bug, Ghost, Dark
Gladimperio – Typ: Unlicht / Stahl Fire, Ground, Fighting
Aktilas – Typ: Eis Fire, Fighting, Rock, Steel
Lumiflora – Typ: Gestein / Gift – Tera-Typ: Gestein Water, Fighting, Rock, Steel, Grass

How to beat Champion and your Rival Nemona

As a final challenge, on the path of the champion, you’ll have to face your rival Nemona and defeat her as well. You can find her in the main square of Mesagoza City.

Pokémon Weaknesses
Lycanroc – Type: Rock Water, Fighting, Ground, Grass, Steel
Goodra – Type: Dragon Fairy, Ice, Dragon
Dudunsparce – Type: Normal Fighting
Orthworm- Type: Steel Fire, Fighting, Ground
Pawmot – Type: Electric / Fighting Ground, Psychic, Fairy

Depending on which starter Pokémon you have chosen, Nemona has also chosen one, and you are now facing one of the three Pokémon:

Sprigatito: Meowscarada – Type: Grass / Dark

  • Tera Type: Grass
Fire, Ice, Poison, Flying, Bug
Fuecoco: Skeledirge – Type: Fire / Ghost

  • Tera Type: Fire
Water, Ground, Rock
Quaxly: Quaquaval – Type: Water / Fighting

  • Tera Type Water
Grass, Electric

After defeating Nemona, you have successfully completed the path of the champ.
