The Fire Temple of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom is the destination of the main quest “Yunobo of Goronia”. This guide will show you how to solve all the puzzles in the Fire Temple.
Here’s the deal: If you come across the Fire Temple in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom, it’s probably as part of the main quest “Yunobo from Goronia”. Located at the foot of Death Mountain (Eldin), it will confront you with a whole bunch of puzzles, whose solutions you’ll learn below.
Zelda TotK: Open the 5 Locks in the Fire Temple
In the Fire Temple, the objective is obviously to open the door behind which Princess Zelda disappeared. However, this is secured by five locks. To open it, you need to go to each of the five map markers. They are distributed over almost all the floors of the complex, although two of them are on the first floor.

How to open the first lock on the ground floor
Take the path to the left of the door and cross the lava streams. You can cross the particularly wide stream by activating the water hydrant above the lava that can be found on the spot. The cooling effect creates some rock platforms. On the other side, jump into the lorry-like mine cart. To get on the right track, fire poor Yunobo at the device that resembles a target. That’s how you switch the switch.
Near the entrance to the first marked room you will once again discover a hydrant. Use it to go to the lava river in front of the reddish glowing rock and create some more rock slabs. Connect them to a bridge, which you lift to use Yunobo as a grenade again. Destroy the “red rock” this way. In the area behind it you will find a gong. It serves to open the first lock; as a gong mallet you use Yunobo here, of course.
How to open the second lock in E1
Go back to the mine cart and drive it to the end of the track. There you will see a switch with an arrow on it. You could give Yunobo a break at this point by simply activating the switch with a punch. Get back on the car and go back the way you came; during the trip you’ll have to switch another switch (in the usual way).
When you reach the terminus, hit the green bell on the left side to lower the rails. Grab the car on it and drive it to a lava pool. There you will again create some rock slabs, but afterwards you will have to use the time rewind function to get to the other side with the help of the rock slabs. You already know the rest of the processes.
How to open the third lock in E3
From the gong, use Yunobo’s attack on the large rocks to the right of the lava pool. This will again make a water hydrant available. Cross the lava in the usual way. Go back to the tracks, turn the car around and shoot an arrow at the green bell to raise the tracks again. Now you can go to the next floor.
To get to the clearly visible third gong, you once again have to build a “bridge” out of rock slabs. To do this, blow up the rock, which then spits out a hydrant. You need a total of about seven or eight platforms to reach the gong.
How to open the fourth lock on the ground floor
Look around the cave until you spot another red glowing rock. Then pat Yunobo’s little head while you connect a new set of rock slabs to form a bridge that will take you to the rock. The blasted rock clears the way to the next marked room, at least after a little sail down to the ground floor. There you can directly open the fourth lock.
How to open the fifth lock in E4
The fourth floor is not easy to reach, but there is a not too complicated way. Go to the 2nd floor, where you will see two rail systems next to each other. The one on the right is long past its prime, but the one on the left still does its job – at least if you activate the distant switching device in the middle of the two rail lines. For this you will need either an eye or a wing of a bat glider, as they, attached to arrows, significantly increase the flight range of the projectile.
In the following area, it again has a red rock. Once the rock is removed (use one of the bridge pieces lying around), you can use the wall behind it as an ascent to the 4th floor. If Link’s stamina is not enough for this, connect the two bridge pieces with the missile you found behind the destroyed rock.
If you then hit the missile, you’ll be on the 4th floor shortly after and can open the fifth lock there. Too bad that behind the door in question the “Tormentor of the Fire Temple” (a boss fight) is waiting for you.
