The paraglider is the most important flying device in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. With its help, you can shorten long distances considerably.
This is what this guide is about: The game world Hyrule in the new Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is very large and has numerous sky islands. Your path will often take you high into the air. A reliable flying machine is therefore indispensable.
In this guide, we’ll show you how to get the paraglider in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. We’ll also explain how to use the paraglider and how to change its appearance.

How to get the Paraglider in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom
You’ll get the paraglider as part of a quest. “To the Kingdom of Hyrule” will ask you to leave the heaven and descend to Hyrule. Follow the quest until you can start the new side quest “Crisis at Hyrule Castle” in the scout tower.
Once you’ve activated this second quest, you’ll learn from the NPC Purah how to activate the towers that are scattered all over Hyrule and that you’ll use to uncover your map step by step. Follow Purah’s instructions and you’ll get the paraglider from her.
How to use the Paraglider in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom
You can use the paraglider in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom very easily. As soon as you jump down somewhere, you don’t need to do anything other than simply press the jump button again in the air. This will activate the glider and you will fly, or glide down smoothly.
However, you should keep an eye on your green stamina meter. If your stamina is depleted, you will crash. If your stamina doesn’t last all the way to the bottom, you can simply switch to free fall in between, and just before you hit the ground, you can reattach the glider to avoid taking any damage.
With the help of stamina medicine or certain cooking recipes you can increase your stamina for a short time. This will also allow you to improve your gliding time.
Customize the Paraglider and use Upwinds
While you can’t improve or upgrade the paraglider, you can use amiibo to change its appearance.
Even though you can’t fly upwards with the glider in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, there are a few tricks you can use to gain some height. Air swirls in certain places tell you that there is an upwind there. Jump into this wind, activate the glider and you will immediately be whirled far upwards.
You can also create such an upwind yourself. To do this, you need to burn a pine cone at a bonfire or a torch stand. The combustion will then create such an updraft, which you can use to take off to the skies.
