The Story of ARK in Aberration
The second DLC of the dino-survival Aberration was released on December 12, 2017, and it is here that the story picks up speed. New characters, a surprising final boss, as well as another cutscene are waiting for you.
In Aberration, too, there are new authors of the Explorer Notes. However, they do not come from the past as before, but from the future.
- Diana Altaras is a pilot of the United Republic of Earth (URE) and comes from a future in which TEK technology is in the alpha stage.
- Santiago is a member of the Federation forces from the future.
Diana and Santiago are from roughly the same time. They realized early on that the three obelisks have a connection to the Overseer towers. Diana wants to destroy the Overseer with a TEK bomb and Santiago helps her get into the tower without artifacts. Thanks to his hacking skills, it works and the bomb destroys one of the towers with great losses. The Overseer survives.

The Catastrophe Takes its Course
With the destruction of the tower, the protective force field also departed. The radiation in space made the surface uninhabitable, and the survivors had to retreat underground. This is Aberration as you currently know it.
Santiago and Diana created the “Gateway Project,” a series of portals to track a signal from Earth. To do that, they had to tap into the energy of an obelisk.

Over time, the others have also arrived in Aberration. First and foremost Helena, Rockwell, and Mei-Yin. Helena’s explorer notes reveal that the alien-like creatures in Aberration were created from a mixture of various DNA strands. She suspects that the creators of the ARKs are humans or at least have a good knowledge of the DNA of the earthlings.
Another Catastrophe is on the Horizon
Santiago makes a terrible discovery during a reconnaissance mission. The ARK is trying to destroy itself from within to put an end to the goings-on of the humans.
To escape final annihilation, Santiago plans to hack the main terminal in the Overseer tower to shut down the obelisks. However, due to a defense mechanism of the ARC, this does not succeed and the group is forced to destroy the terminal instead. The worst has thus been averted, at least for the time being.
Rockwell as the Villain
Helena describes in her notes that Rockwell and his group raided Diana’s camp at some point. The reasons for this are obscure. However, he has previously conducted many experiments with “element” and messed around with people. According to theories, this is how the “Nameless” came into being – small nasty creatures.
Due to the Element exposure, Rockwell increasingly mutated, and Mei-Yin as well as Helena locked him in a deep cave. Over time, Rockwell managed to reactivate the ARC and connect with it. He virtually became part of it and took control.
Players Appear in the Aberration ARK
As a player, your task is to put an end to Rockwell. You must collect three artifacts to do this, as in other ARCs. You’ll need them to teleport to Rockwell’s terminal.
In the final boss fight, you first see the extent of the mutation. Only Rockwell’s distorted face shows that he was once human. During the fight, he regularly calls upon the Nameless and Reaper for help. Both creatures are said to have been created by his experiments.
After Rockwell is defeated, another cutscene and the journey through the Gateway Project towards Earth begins.
The Explorer Notes also indicate that the Aberration ARK regained control after Rockwell’s death. However, since there are no more bosses to defeat, but the ARK protocol calls for defeating a boss, Rockwell is steadily resurrected as the final enemy. So he is destroyed over and over again by players in an endless loop. His resentment grows steadily.
