DayZ was supposed to get improved artificial intelligence (AI) for infected people in 2023. But now the developers say that won't happen.

What's going on? After all the hype for the announcement that Infected AI would get an update this year, the developers are now letting the dream go. We take a look at what you can still expect for DayZ in 2023 instead.

DayZ won't get improved infected AI - that's what the devs say

In a recent blog post, the developers explained that the planned improved AI for infected and enemies would not fit into their schedule. Therefore, the resources were diverted to other important projects for upcoming updates.

This news comes as a surprise as the revamped infected AI along with a revamped Northwest Airfield were promised to be highlights of the year. While the Airfield is still waiting, the AI improvement is out the window for now.

But here's a downer: we checked with the developers to see if the feature could still come or if it has been cancelled altogether. The answer is as follows:

Unfortunately, we can neither promise that it will come, nor that it will never come.... The only fact is that we will not reach this year (...).

But maybe the improved AI for infected people will only appear in a possible DayZ 2, which was leaked during the Microsoft court hearings: DayZ 2 according to Microsoft in development – But officially it is not
